I know it might sound dumb to some that I actually like the stock brake pads, but I was hoping someone could tell me who makes a pad that performs like the OEM's or where I can find a decent price for actual OEM pads. Low noise, excellent braking power, almost no dust and have lasted 55k miles (obviously mostly highway) on my '08 tC. This car is mostly driven by my wife, so an upgrade of pads or rotors is completely unnecessary.

The brake pad replacement procedure doesn't seem any harder than any other car I've owned over the years, including my Z, so I'll be replacing all 4 myself.

 

The brake pad replacement on the tC is probably one of the easiest things I've ever done on a car. Ever.

As for best prices on OEM, check TRDsparks.com. If you don't see the OEM pads listed on the site, just PM them here on the site for a quote and part #.

Na... they usually just give you the part number to find on the site. Their prices can't be beat anyway. And they're good people.

You can order from TRDSparks. Good people, but you can go to the dealer and get the brakes at the same price because then you don't pay for shipping. Just letting you know. I guess it saves you a trip to the dealer.

 

I try to avoid my local dealer at ALL costs. Absolutely terrible service. After the free 10k mile service, my dealer didn't bother to call and tell me the car was done, then they parked the car in the used car lot and left the keys under the floor-mat with the doors unlocked.

I let the manager on duty have it and the best he would do for me was promise it would never ever happen again (yeah, right... ) and have the owner call me. Needless to say, the owner never called me and I've never gone back.

Avoid Brian Easler Toyota if you are ever in the Western North Carolina area. I tried calling Toyota of America to report my bad experience, but nobody seemed to care.

I enjoy our tC, but this will be my last Toyota.

 

Do you guys know if the OEM pads are ceramic or semi-metallic?
