yeah, some ive noticed are different height.......kuhmos are the worst, good tires, ive had them, but thier sidewall is higher then others. ive narrowed it down to falkens, bfgoodrich or nittos. im looking for a good all around tires wet and dry traction.

Got measurements to support that claim? Tire sizing is controlled by DOT. It would be really bad for a manufacturer to claim the tire is a size that isn't the same as the other manufacturers. Tread width can vary, but overall carcass width and aspect ratio are not up for interpretation.

i already know that, but some tires appear to look shorter then others, that is what i ment and should have clairified that in my first statement

........some of you guys take everything too literal, like im off to sue someone and im looking for "facts to support my case" . relax. its a personal observation that i have noticed lately about tires..........so settle down

tires with the same width, aspect ratio and diameter should all be the same size. i've never seen a one tire look taller than another with the same size specs. thats like saying some 17" wheels are taller than other 17" wheels (of the same width). maybe youre comparing a tire with more tread and one with less tread. or you could be looking at a tire thats been stretched to fit a wider wheel, which does thin the appearance of the sidewall.

certain wheel designs can make tires look fatter or thinner. to me, thin/narrow spoked wheels make tires look fatter than thicker spoked wheels.

I have Nitto's, and I love them. Not a bad of a ride either for low profile tires.

FYI, the middle number indicates the percentage of the tread width that is the sidewall height. it is not a set number or 'series' so not all 40 series are the same height. it can vary

Close. It's a percentage of the cross-section width, not the tread width. It is possible to have the same cross-section and surprizingly wider or narrower tread, so the series is a percentage of the cross-sectional width on a standard rim size (if you look up the specs for any tire, they will have a narrow, recommended, and wide rim specified for each size.)

If the rims are narrower or wider than the one used for the official measurements, they may be taller or shorter respectively. For the tire to perform best, you should use the recommended rim width. This is why I went with the GN+ for 245s despite being quite a bit heavier than FN01RCs. It all has to work together...
