For optimal handling.. or just wanting to drop? Because neither is right for optimal handling.. the stechs are WAY too low and too soft to handle well... they handle worse than stock when you really push the car. Htechs are better, but still too low and too soft for the amount of drop.

for handling i would go with an even drop coil, both h and s tech are lower in the front than the rear. for looks i would go with the s tech, since i have h techs.

John if you want to go with performance go with Progress. The drop is nice and it handles REAL well. That's what I had before I switched to S-Techs, because I wanted to just go lower. If I get tired of being too low I'd go with Progress in a heartbeat.

Depends on your taste and the roads around your area. IMO however, i think h-techs gives a nice drop thats not TOO low.

ever checked out hotchkis or h&r? I have htechs right now, but they are a bit soft. stechs are all show and you will get sick of them after awhile since they handle so poorly and you will scrape everywhere. They look sick, but on a dd, they can be a pain sometimes...

I have S-techs and although i didnt plan on purchasing them for performance, more just to slam and the show of it, but i cant say that the s-techs handle poorly, obviously not the best but ive gone through some pretty spirted corners with s-techs, and just sway bars, front/rear strut bar and c-pillar bar(more for show to) and im fairly happy with them and the type of driving i do....

As for scrapping that depends on how you drive and where you live, i live near some pretty rough roads but ive always driven lowered cars so i just know how to handle the drop....

the tc is heavier in the front than in the rear, so dropping the car .5" more in the front compared to the rear will not improve handling. Also, considering 1.3 to 1.4 is about the perfect height, dropping the car an inch or so beyond that does not necessarily mean an improvement in handling. Quite the opposite actually. This is not really noticeable on a dd which is why I have htechs as I liked the look and never track/autox. That is why stechs and htechs are more of an appearance based drop. They are both good springs, but to say they handle well is a bit of a stretch. Since the choice is between htechs and stechs, it seems the guy wants more of an appearance based drop which is why I recommended hotchkis. I had them and loved them.

I've driven lowered cars a bit as well and you will scrape w/ stechs. You can minimize this by altering your driving habits, road conditions, etc, but you will still scrape sometimes even if you know how to handle the drop...

Svickstc, I realize I might have been a bit harsh on the stechs. Not trying to start anything, just my experience and .02 so no offense...

No No i completely agree with you, the S-techs are to extereme of a drop to have for handling performance as well as H-techs... But with some supporting suspensions mods the S-techs can be alright is what i was trying to get at....Like i said im not out tracking my car on a road course/auto-x but i do take some spirited corners while dirivng in the sticks haha, and with a nice set of rubber then do just fine for the driving I DO.....

But no i agree with you and you were not harsh you were stating the truff

thanks for everyones feedback!
nice to know everyone here is very helpful

actually i just want a very nice even look
and since im getting konis, i will have the stiffness to whichever i want
and also getting the strut and sways etc, but thats not to later on
since i have stockies on 225s, i wanted to know which springs will go well with that
(based on the 225s basically)

stechs are a bit low, and the roads here are kinda "holy" if catch my drift
but they are obvious to see and easy to avoid

htechs have a mid drop and i know they are lower than TuRDs =P

hotchkis only rusts when you got an immense amount of road salt. dude, you're in cali. i had them for just under 2 years and they didn't rust.
