Default Steering wheel vibration...

I haven't seen any sticky's or other posts like this, but my 05 tc has a weird spot in the steering column you can feel when you sit still its like play in that first knuckle, but I can't get rid of it. I tightened it as much as I felt comfortable, but you can still wiggle the joint and it creates an uncomfortable sort of knock or click in the steering wheel.

It is very suttle, but noticeable. At highway speeds, my steering wheel vibrates pretty rough. I guess to give you a mental picture. Try shaking your steering wheel back and forth a half inch at a time fast enough that its a vibration. I don't know if the issues are related, but my tires seem good, my tie rods are tight as a drum, and my wheel bearings and ball joints all seem to be solid.

Sorry for being so long winded. I am sure this is a lot to chew on.

Try having your wheels balanced on a high speed road surface simulating balancer?

Steering wheel vibration usually means bent wheel.
Clunk when you turn probaly means something in the linkage.

not a clunk, its an actual CLICK IN the steering wheel or steering wheel column, no noises outside of the vehicle.

^^ check the steering shaft, and the intermediate steering shaft. There was someone else on here that had that go bad on them. That could be the issue of the "weird spot" when steering. If that is vibrating, I'd get it checked before it disconnects (if that is the issue)..

but the click could also be the wire spool that is built into the steering wheel hub. It is what turns off the turn signals when you move the steering wheel away from straight on.
