Default Stock strut brand

Anyone know what is OEM struts front/rear for a '06 tC? I'm ultimately looking for brand recommendations for a smoother ride please.

I'll assume it's KYB since they OEM the suspension for most Toyota's and TRD.

If Koni makes their STR.T's (orange body) for the tC1 I would go with those - they ride fantastic. But I'm not sure they are still available. A lot of support for the Scion models other than the FRS has fallen off. My next choice would be the Tein Endura or Endura Pro's (if you wanted damping adjustment).

The KYB GR2/Excel G ride pretty harsh IMO and I would not recommend.

If you want to lower the car at all it would make more sense to buy a decent set of coilovers like the Tein Flex.

I will check my local auto parts stores...then online after that. No, not trying to lower - want it to softer ride. Thanks for the help!

If it's a softer ride, it's the KYB's. I have the Koni's and they are pretty good and a step above the KYB's. The KYB's though, for the price cannot be beat. Teins are good too but they are pricey. Are you going to use the stock springs? If it's stock the KYB and the Koni will do.

You don't mention how many miles on your '06 but I would imagine replacing the existing struts is going to result in an improved ride quality, regardless of brand...but I'd look at KYB or Koni and see what they might have at RockAuto if you're not looking to go the coilover route.

94,000 but unsure if these are stock struts - I really doubt it. Car has a rattle noise in left rear strut. Tested by holding brake and putting transmission into reverse and made a slight clunk. Softer is what I’m going for and scared away from the one KYB’s. The Orange KYBs aren’t made for my TC.
