A stupid "will I rub" thread
hahah, seriously.
I feel pretty stupid but whatever. Ive searched and searched. My last resort is to make this thread.
Ive been looking at coilovers for my car but I realized its out of my budget and my comfort zone. Im just going to lower my car some more with springs and maybe tokico blue shocks.
I was thinking progress springs on tokico blue shocks. Hows the ride quality on that combo? I think someone had that setup before.
Also, im on 18x8 +32. Will I rub with a 1.8" drop?
Lastly, if I decide to not buy the shocks and just get progress springs on OEM shocks, would that make me sag lower? Would I still be okay on the rub issue?

1.8 shouldnt make you rub. I have 18x8 in wheels with wide tires and skunk 2 springs (2.4"F 2.0"R) with OEM shocks and the tops of the tires sit perfectly flush with the tops of the fenders. Only rubs if there is a big bump or bad dip in the road but most of the time you see them coming and can slow down for them. And when it does rub its very little. Its been over a year now and tires show no signs of extra wear from the slight rub every now and then.

I'm pretty sure aftermarket shocks will result in you being lower than if you stay on OEM shocks. Anyways, you should be fine with that drop. If you rub, just roll your fenders or add a little camber. I think TeeCizzle had that suspension combo. You might want to ask him.

camber will play a big role. you will b fine in the rear. the front you may rub over bumps and fast turns. when i had my ssr's with the 20mm spacers, it was 18x8 et 29 in the rear and i only rubbed in with more then 2 ppl in the car or around fast turns. as for the fronts ive ran 18x8 et 33 with little rubbing due to being low. but with the combo you are looking at, i think that you will be ok. and if you do rub, its not going to be a big deal where your tires are getting distroyed. if anything you can probably get a half degree or so of negative camber and be ok.

i had -1.9 camber in the front and i still rubbed during bumps. -2.8 in the back and only rubbed with a full load of people.
basically you are gonna rub on bumps imho...depends on the spring rate too...i dunno how high the progress are..
