Default survey on tein coilovers

if anyone here has tein coilovers on their tC i have a few questions:

does it ride smoother than a beamer?

how big is the drop?

do u feel any differences from stock? if so, what are they?

not too sure about that one because i've only been in a few beamers.. but the ride is pretty smooth. you will definitely notice bumps/dips in the road so be careful.

ride height is adjustable with coilovers, so there is a wide range to choose from.

the main difference from stock I would say would be that you can feel every bump/pothole/dip in the road. the overall ride is great and very smooth on smooth roads, but you will notice a difference if you go over something on the pavement. the handling is like 500% better with coilovers (I have the Tein SS-P's); you'll go around turns that used to make the car lean and find yourself asking "didn't that used to be a sharp turn?"

you cant adjust unless you have superstreet or above. i have ss-ps and the since the ride and ride height are adjustable i can have it ride like a caddy or like track car

i have the basic coilovers and the ride is smooth and it handles better. of course it'll be a little bouncy on bad roads or pot holes. not really bad but a little bouncy

you will feel a major dofference. the ride is a stiffer, but thats because you will be able to take turs at speeds that you would normally not. not to mention that you can zip in and out of traffic like nobody business.

i haad coilovers on my 240. i dont have them on my tc yet, as i just picked it up on last thursday, but i remaber the ride in my 240 very well. it went from feeling soft doughy and body rolly through turn, to rock solid and nearly on rails. i like a stiff ride. i didnt drive on streets that were that bad when i had em. but you will feel nearly every thing... and you will also want to go find a nice curvey road and see how fast you can go.

if its a lux type ride you want, these are not for you. if you want a ride that will be nearly nailed to the ground through turns, get em. i suggest the super streets with the EDFC. itll be easy to aadjust the stiffness of your springs that way.

Actually the EDFC is for adjusting the shocks

I have them with the pillow mount/camber plates but our car is totally stripped out so a bit to stiff for much comfort right now and not broken it yet. When we get the interior back in the ride should be very nice.

Had the same setup on our turbo Matrix, they rode perfectly on it, better than all the aftermarket springs, handled great, why I have them for the tC now but these seem a bit stiffer sprung which is good for our needs.

I think typically speaking the higher your spring rate the quicker and higher your dampening rate needs to be. If you have to soft a shock with a tight spring the car will bounce, if you then add enough shock to the car it might just smooth out but when you hit bumps it could be to stiff and jarring.

Think about car's with the adjustable ride from cruzing to racing, most are just adjusting the rate of the shock. I personally think TRD springs with adjustable rate shocks would be a great combination.

I have adjustable rate shocks on my MR2 and when I go from 1 to 4 there is a HUGE difference in handling, ride, etc. When you go to a race track (with curves ;) ) it is definately a plus to have adjustables.

For those of you that are comparing this to the ride of a beemer... I just sold a 2004 325ci Sport & Prermium Coupe, that is a $40,000 car new. Though lowering will help the handeling of the car, I can assure you that even with the top top top of the line coilover you will not take the handeling of a 20,000 car and match that of a 40,000 car. However, my beemer did ride like crap, very rough, the car could take a corner at top speed, not squeal, not break loose, very impressive that is for sure. But there is a reason that a beemer costs $40K.

One other thing to keep in mind, the smaller the tire, the worse the ride too.

Now, I sold my beemer last week so I could buy a tC, that should say something for my opinion of the car as a whole, the value that is offered and it is just hot as can be.
