suspension decision......... VERY difficult!

Default suspension decision......... VERY difficult!

I want to be sporty but anything near rough is not good.

People are saiding "TRD suspension (springs and struts) give a good medium"

What do you (anyone) think would give the lowered look (that is still driveable in the north east winter) feel sporty, and handle reasonably well.

I keep getting different answers, which of course make sense since it all opinion:

One person said:

"i have b&g coilovers and I can say that they're very comfortable. my friend has tein ss coilovers on his tc and says mine rides smoother."

and so one else said this

"Honestly, if you aren't buying adjustable coilovers for performance, you're best getting TRD struts and springs with a modest drop (like Eibach, TRD, H&R Sport). If you are dead-set on buying adjustable coilovers for looks and ride comfort, you shouldn't waste money on TEIN+EDFC if you are not tracking your car. Go with H&R (read my review --> https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...oilover+review ) or Progress, save some money and still get high quality coilovers you won't regret."

and another,

tC setup with the H&R Coilovers + Hotchkis sways and his ride was TIGHT as heck, also could be rather rough too - he tended to 3-wheel when turning into driveways and such.



Everyone does keep coming back with the TRD struts and then it just comes down to springs.......... BUT

I really like the idea of lowering it down in the spring and raising it up in the summer.....

AND being able to change the stiffen (which would also be a major benifit in the winter...IF it could go soft enough)


This is a difficult decision......

The TRD springs (only) is fine for me, giving a good looking drop, combined with good handling, and i've never had a problem in the snow for the last 2 winters. i'm in NY, so you may have it a bit rougher than us. recently installed the TRD rear sway, which tightened up the ride just that much more.

THat info was helpful but I have a few Q's:



So you have have the TRD spring with the stock stuts?

How many miles do you have on the stock struts?

How would you explain the difference as it relates to the comfort of the ride?

what do you have for extra weight in the front and back?

Is the gap in the front the same as the back?

yes, with TRD its not necessary to replace the struts, the TRD drop is not as extreme

hard to say because i got the springs on almost immediately. but its sporty enough, but does not COMPLETELY sacrifice comfort. if you still want a stiffer ride, like i said above, you can always get sway(s) to improve suspension.

for the most part yes, if ANYTHING, the rear looks a touch lower than the front. but again, its negligible.

Wouldn't it put more strain on the stock struts if you just use the lowering springs?

Isn't the stock springs designed to go with the stock springs and wouldn't that through off intended design?

hummmmmm?



now I need to look at what the difference in price and do I want performance?
