to be honest i've heard mixed things about this. one is that because Tein put more R&D into the Htechs than they did on the Stechs. Another possibility was that Htechs were designed more for performance than the Stechs since the so called "ideal" drop on the tC was 1.5 all around, and thus Htechs are closer. and my final guess is that is because the Stechs are made out of vanadium (im not too shure as to what Stechs are made of), and they also keep the same comfort as the OEM stuff. again, it could be anything

the drop looks good. but will look alot better when it settles in. i have the Htechs and im loving it so far. just like many others, the Stechs were too much of a drop for me, thus i went with the Htechs. however, i heard many good things about the hotchkis set up, and also this german brand i forgot the name of. but i still love my Htechs. great choice!

Alright well this is the deal, as you know I was trying to find someone to swap their s-techs for my h-techs cause I wasn't happy with the ride height (I wanted it a little lower). But it was looking to become very unpromising to find someone who wanted to trade straight up. So I found some s-techs for sale from a guy in chicago (I'm in so. Cal). They were a pretty good price, but at the last minute he found someone locally who wanted to buy his s-techs which worked out better for him (no hassle with shipping). But not 10 sec's after receiving that news I received an instant message from a guy here locally in So. Cal that wanted to trade straight up! I was exstatic to say the least. It took some coercing, but I finally convinced the guy to pick up the springs from him and then trust me to return the springs to him the next day. (H-techs were still on my car at the time) so I picked up the springs yesterday around 4:00, had em swapped be 8 and I couldn't be happier with the appearance! S-techs completely get rid of the wheel gap, which is exactly what I wanted! No camber or rubbing issues (stock rims n tires). I'm at the car wash right now and as soon as I'm done here I will be taking and posting pics!

true, the ride is a little stiffer and you have to drive a little slower over bumps, but those are two things i'll sacrifice for a nice stance. plus, my '71 bug was further in the weeds than my tc is. my tc looks like its riding stock compared to the bug i used to drive! (the rear was soo low, it road ON the bump stops!! and the front was even lower!)

Hotchkis 1.7/1.97
H-Tech 1.9/1.5
Alright im confused tho...
Hotchkis=1 finger gap in front
H-tech= 2?
Are H-techs really 1.9?
Ive been looking for springs for a while now.
Hotchkis look to low in the front for me to drive w/.
H-Tech look higher to me.
Anyways let me know...how many finger gaps ur getting thx!

Well for the h-techs the drop was nice with the 18 in rims.

Front Gap: A little less than 1 and 1/2 fingers

Rear Gap: About two fingers

noo don't use a jack to compress the springs, use a spring compressor if you want to avoid any injuries.

i don't think s-techs will go to well with 18 in. rims. the tires may rub on the body of the car.

I like things done right the first time. People who do quality work some times cost more. Out here in NYC things cost mucho $$$. If your happy with your install then the price is right.

By the way S techs are the best! Praise the lowered

just as an fyi, there are SLers that are running 19s w/o rubbing issues. only some added attention while driving is necessary to avoid painful scraping.
