The point is harsh road conditions no matter what is gonna be uncomfortable. Any kind of lowering will sacrifice the ride comfort but increase performance. Give-&-take..
i understand what your saying as far as give and take. but your comparing the stock springs which have the lowest spring rate available for the tC to the SS-P's which have the highest spring rate available for the tC. no other available spring for the tC is going to be harsher than the tein SS's or Basic's...and that is a fact. so there is no give and take...your giving up as much comfort as you can and taking as much performance as you can. based on my experience with the SS-P's...im just suggesting that if you encounter rough roads everyday, like most of us in the north, you may want to consider a coilover with a lower spring rate if the car is being used as a daily driver. im fortunate enough to have another vehicle so i can park the tC till i want to have fun, but if i didnt i probably would have yanked the SS-P's by now for something a little more mild.

Its not that hard compared to changing springs as long as you have the right tools, but thats crazy install cost right there, it shouldnt cost more than 200. I had mine done for 80 for the fronts

I hear with the basics you have to modify the strut to make the coils fit. I'm assuming the SS's are just bolt on?

I have the SS-P w/ EDFC set up. You won't regret getting it. I agree with 05_TRD_TC that on the softest setting it feels like the TRD setup.

But about your friend's M3 problem w/ the shock towers... does he have a E36 M3? Cause thats a problem many E36 M3 has.

Yeah actually, lol. He typically has a lot different taste than me anyway.

Anyhow, I think with the Basics you have to remove something from your stock strut, and put it on the basics (I read this somewhere.. it could've been about a different coilover)... but I'm pretty sure the SS-Ps are bolt on.

This tread is useless without PIXS. LOL. J/k, but yea, planning on getting me some in the near, near future. Hopefully it will help with the Tc's major body roll issues.

<---- (ie; Dex's) Sweetness. Cant wait for my ride to look like that.

the SS's have struts with adjustable dampening (compression and rebound) and the Basic's have struts with no adjustability. other than that they are identical. both are bolt on utilizing the factory pillowball mounts. with the SS-P's on the other hand...Tein provides you with pillowball mounts and camber plates.

the body roll is not a factor after the SS-P's and the hotchkis bars. the problem now is convincing this fat pig to rotate. but just like any other FWD car...get on the brakes early, get back on the gas early, then you can control the rear of the car with your right foot. you get into the corner too hard and she will plow like a dumptruck.

I use SSPs on a daily and I love em. After about a year the pillow mounts finally stopped squeaking too.

If you get the EFDC you can adjust it to an extent, and apparently on the 'softest' setting, its not entirely too bad, as far as comfort goes. SS-P's are performance handling shocks/struts, so you're going to sacrifice some comfort if all you have right now is springs. SS-P's come with pillow ball mounts which replace the stock mounts, and will cause more rigidity throughout the car when going over bumps, taking turns, etc... making you handle better.. but feel the road more.

The reason I started this thread was to see if anyone had noticed any damage on the strut towers but it doesn't seem as though they have experienced any problems (although most people think giving up comfort is a problem). It all depends on how you want to apply it.

I've just ordered my Tein SSP with EDFC and I'm a little nervous about the ride quality, mainly because I'll be running 19" rims with 35 series rubber. Does anyone have the Tein SSP setup with 19s out there? Should I be nervous?

um as long as you don't slam it or anything you should be good. your ride will definitely be rougher than stock since you got higher spring rates and less rubber, but that should be a given when you order coilovers.

from the top of the units. ...so under the hood for the fronts and lift up (or cut holes) the rear carpet for the back.
