I just got my tein stechs installed on my tc and I've noticed that whenever I go over any moderate bumps (bigger than the freeway markers) i get a clunk sound coming from my front right almost as if something is loose. I didn't install it myself so I'm thinking of taking it back. This is definately not normal correct?

Also, the camber on the rear seems pretty crazy...was wondering if I need to get it adjusted or its insignificant. Also the alignment pulls to the right pretty harshly.

That is not normal. Did they do an alingment after the install? I talked with a Scion dealer and I asked if a camber kit was needed with spring install and they said no. I think they were talking about TRD springs. S Techs have a more dramatic drop so it may affect the camber differently.

How does it look, do you have any wheel gap left on your stock wheels, do you have pics? I just bought TRD shocks and am trying to decide which springs to get.

 

Well, with the funky clunk, I took it back to the shop and the guy couldnt figure out what was wrong so he just took it all apart and put it back together and it went away.

I didnt do an alignment after the install - its not too extreme.

As for the camber, I don't think its that bad either.

The drop is much lower than the TRD springs. parallel to the ground, I can't get any fingers between my fender and wheel...looks sexy. The great thing is though that the front fender does not go too low as to where I have to take bumps at an angle all the time - I can take em straight on with no scratching. No wheel rubbing either - and the ride? It feels just like stock but better feel and handling. I love them.

I highly recommend the s.techs.

did the guys who did your install use the provided rubber spring sleaves??. they're these rubber sleeves that go on the actual coil and prevent "spring chatter" thats what happens when the coils contact each other. they should have come witht the springs. but im not sure thats what happend in your case. anyways..bleh im done

 

Congrats on the new springs, Teins are the best hands down as I have the Super Streets on my Civic. Anyways, I have heard of this clunk also. In the case of my friend's clunk, she took the wheel off the car and noticed that the spring wasn't sitting on its perch correctly, like it need to be taken off, and turned just slightly to sit right. Soon as it was reinstalled, wheel put on, and the jack lowered, the spring compressed and sat on its perch properly = no more clunky clunk. Where did you get your springs from if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking ebay but have been reading that they are on backorder.

 

yeah i think the springs weren't set right by the guy at the shop. he reinstalled it right and now its fine.

I got mine off ebay for 154 shipped. my springs took about 2 weeks because they were held up by customs. stupid customs. i think a reputable ebay seller is better right now due to the shortage in stores, but make sure you contact the seller and ask if its on backorder before bidding on ebay. thats my 2 cents.

 

I am so excited, i purchased my S Techs today and this time next week i will have the TRD Shocks and STechs installed. WHHHHHOOOHHOOOO!!!! The Scion dealership quoted me $80 dollars for the install. I feel safe having them do it. I would do it myself but my tool kit is pretty weak. lol

 

WOW $80 from the dealer sounds almost too good to be true...

just thought I'd chime in and tell you that any clunking you heard after a spring install is from the bolts on the top of the struts not being torqued down tight enough, when he took it apart and re-tightened the bolts he probably did it right that time

i didnt get that much bounce (though it is more noticable). i am getting an alignment tomorrow. i would suggest getting an alignment after some suspension work.
