Default Torn boot solutions?

Im slammed on rokkors and recently ive been hearing a short but kinda loud click sound when i stop. I pulled the tc in my shop and removed the tires to find my passenger side boot is tearing. Prolly an inch tear at the beginning of it.not were it meets the trans axle (im not sure if thats what its called)

Anyway, will i need to replace the whole trans axle nd bkot or can i just replace the boot?
How long can i ride like this? I dont get paid till the 1st.
i may ghetto rig it till i can find out what i need. Anyone use glue on these?

Sorry for the noob questions but i dont have the time to search right now.and um not yryna get raped by the dealer. Any advice is great!! Thanks!!

you can drive on it for a while just as long as it doesn't completely rip but once it completely breaks you'll feel it clunk a couple times here and there. i drove my tc like that for about 2 or 3 weeks like that but i avoided freeways at all costs.

i would just replace the boot since they only cost about $25 from trdsdparks. since you said it's not your inner cv boot (which is the one near the tranny) then you would need to buy the outer cv boot. how many miles do you have on your car?

check out this thread on changing inner cv boot

Thanks for the advice!

Yea its just the passenger boot. The tear isnt the largest, but there was a ton of grease. I threw two zipties on the boot to hold it. Ill probably loosen the clamp thing at the end, slide it past the small tear and re tighten it. Unless thats gunna put more stress on it.idk

You will need help from a tech on that, sounds like the CV joint, so it's a matter of which direction the steering is turned going forward and reverse which will tell you what's going on.

Someone help him out -who's had the same problem.

yup mine was like that too. my pass side ripped completely and all the grease came out but i was driving the car for about 2 weeks until i was able to get the socket i needed. i dunno why it's like that, maybe a mechanic can chime in but my tore on the pass side and the clunk was coming from the driver side.

depending on how many miles you have on your current axles, i would just replace both sides and start fresh. just try to find someone selling used oem axles locally since the ones you buy online that is suppose to be OEM sucks. gl with changing it out since the driver side is the hardest.

yup i replaced both sides since my left side started leaking and was clicking because of a bad cv boot. pass side is the easiest but the driver side took me half the day just trying to pry the axle out of the tranny.

You can get the pass side axle for right around $100+tax from Oreilley's or Autozone. Swapping its easy, just make sure to drain the trans first

Autozone gets you lifetime warranty too, next time the axles give, get yourself another set no more money out of pocket lol.

Hey guys I had a question. So my Pass tore first then my driver side. Last night I tried to replace them and started with the pass side. When I unbolted the axle off the tranny I noticed that the bracket (that bolted to the frame) was attached with the axle. Am I supposed to re-use this or am I supposed to buy a new one. The reason why I am asking is cause the bracket wouldn't come off the axle, it would just spin. Any ideas please help.

Thank you

Yea I also checked a scionclub site and nobody has talked about this. I just don't get it cause it wont budge but the new one doesn't have it. Would they really not sell it w it when yoh buy axles? I am lost and my car is in the air right now lol

Ok just found. So I took it to a shop where they fix axles and the guy showed me that there is a little clip on the edgs that keeps that bracket in place. You need two screw drivers to unclip the bracket off the old axle.
