Default TRD Springs + Stock Shocks Rattling/clunking

I bought used TRD Springs that were already settled and installed them on my tC. At first the ride was perfectly quiet, but after about 1500 miles, it sounds like the springs may have settled more, or have come loose. At first it was a light rattling on the passenger side, which really wasn't that bad, but now on the Driver's side it sounds pretty loud, like the spring is loose or something. When the car is stopped and I push/lift on the car to try to get a reaction noise, I hear nothing, but driving along and hitting normal small bumps in the road, it clunks pretty loudly.

Sometimes while braking I can feel the thumping in the pedal or actually on the dead pedal as well...

Do you think the springs have settled too much or are somehow shifted? Do my shocks just need to get compressed more?

If you're feeling it in your brakes, it likely isn't springs. At least, I don't think so. I would check sway bars and end links as well.

Do you feel anything in steering? Like if you swerve a little bit?

Nothing's swerving or anything. It's not the sway bar - the only one i put on is the rear sway. I'm sure it's the front.

I meant if YOU swerve a little bit, can you feel anything knocking or hitting then?

I mention the sways and endlinks b/c when you do the spring installs the endlinks have to be disconnected - so I would check that out. Both front and rear.

My Springs had a 'clunking' in the right front and it was because the top of the spring became improperly seated I believe. You would now be the 4th case I have heard of.

I am researching this.

Nope don't feel anything while swerving. It's just from bumps. The end links were disconnected when they were installed. I'm sure of that.

I'm not as worried about the passenger side. I'm worried about the driver's side since it's louder!

Well... crap. I had hoped I wouldn't have had to do that. I didn't install them myself so it's gonna really suck reseating it.

I had my friend do it.. he has the tools and know-how. I could probably figure it out with the instructions that I have, but the tools will be the problem.

Yep. That will hinder you a little you need to be able to compress the springs.

Figured it out... the Driver's side is fixed. Don't have time to do the passenger side today.

I had to jack up the car, take off the wheel, and undo the 3 strut bolts almost all the way. Then I pulled the assembly down a little and then tightened the nut on the actual strut itself (had to pull it down to be able to fit the socket wrench in under the wiper cowling)... then tightened everything down as tight as I could.

I just test drove it around the neighborhood... where there are speed bumps and bad roads.... Driver's side is completely quiet again. I'll retighten the passenger side tomorrow and let you know.

You should tighten all the suspension bolts/nuts with the car on the ground. You won't get the proper torque on the nuts if the weight of the car isn't compressing the spring.

If you can't get under the car with it on the ground, buy a cheap seet of ramps to get under the car.

Make sure you are torquing the nuts/bolts to the proper specs too.

I'm having the same kind of problem with mine, every time I go over bumps or holes on the road I hear a clunking noise coming from the drivers side,I guess I need to check that nut on top of the strut and try to realign the spring, maybe that'll fix the problem.

I didn't have to realign the spring. I just tightened nut on the strut (hehe i rhyme!) and tightened everything back up. I pulled on the suspension a little bit to try to get it to make noise... none.
