Does this happen when the springs are settling? I've had mine on for two weeks now and I still hear a clunking noise when I hit bumps.

If not, how would a person who is not mechanically inclined so about having this fixed? Should I take it to the shop? Some friends installed them for me and I'm not going to bother them with it again.

I'd have your friends look at it again or go to a shop. A shop will probably charge you, though.

If you're not mechanically inclined.... someone else will have to look at it.

I should recheck my driver's rear... I occasionally get a clunk getting in and out of the car. It doesn't bother me, but this would probably fix it. I just don't want to have to rip out the interior.

Are the lowering springs any shorter when un-loaded than the factory springs?

When you go over a big bump the strut will over extend and if the aftermarket spring is shorter than the stock spring then it can move on the spring perch. Is this whats happening here?

Maybe getting different struts with reduced down-travell will help this. Anybody have any spec on the TRD strut vs. the stock one -I'm talking length here.

That's a plausible explanation, Eric-tC, but I think the lowering springs are the same height... but then again, I'm not 100% sure.

I had to re-tighten my passenger side again but now it's fixed.

I don't think it's so much that the springs are shorter, but that the TRD springs I have are settled, compared to my unsettled struts.

amanda, where in Pgh are you? If you could bring it by, I could have a look at it.

I'm in Edgewood.
