TRD struts installation with OEM stock spring
I just had my mechanic installed TRD rsb on the TC, you guys ain't kidding,
what a difference a bar made. He was about to installed the TRD struts with
the stock springs. He was having a hard time saying the struts, even when fully
extended were too short for the stock springs no matter how hard he compressed
them? He did a job on TRD springs and shock install and had no problem whatsoever. I checked the part number:
PTR04-21051-60 on Mcgeorge and Sparks, pretty sure I got the right part.
The questions are: (a) TRD struts should work with stock springs without needing
TRD springs, right???
(b) if that's the case, what is my mechanic not doing right? Please share your wisdom.
Thanks in advance!

TRD Struts are supposed to be shorter than the stock. The whole idea is to lower the car with springs and to install shorter struts to keep the car from leaning out as much when turning.
When you turn right the car sways the opposite side because the suspension extends on the right side and compresses on the left. If you prevent the supsension from extending as much the car will remain flatter as you turn.
Hence this will increase control and precision when turning.
TRD struts are like 700, TRD springs are like 140. Shell out some more cash and do it right the first time.

In a way it's good that i got to drive around for a week with just the rsb mod since I can feel the major difference everyone's been talking about. The car rolls a LOT less than before and it's somewhat more managable. Yet, the stock tires really sucks so........bad that I was skidding on a nice dry entrance of hwy doing 35 on 25mph. I will do the TRD springs and struts. Drive around for a week or so, would probably upgrade the tires to Avon M500 and changed pads to Axxis deluxe.
Well, today is the day, I got my rsb, struts and springs installed and it handles
great! no more body rolls and I can go into corners a bit faster with confidence!
Definitely well worth the $$$. All together I spent: $470 shocks + $150 springs +
$280 installation = $900, not too shabby!

Sparks, man! I ordered the springs and shocks separately, but, the price is the same. They are VERY professional and the shipping is reasonable since my residence is on the east coast. But call them anyway: http://www.sparkstoyota.com/TRD.aspx
As for the tires, I totally agree, the stupid OEM tires make the ABS kick in on a nice dry sunny day! Another thing I need to do is putting new Axxis brake pads on the car. After that, I am debating whether I should SC to turbonetics the car, or........keeping the car the way it is and get a faster car and don't have to worry over overboost and detonate the engine.
