i use cheapo kumho ecsta asx tires, not the best but they never let me down on the curves. compared to the rest of my upgrades, they are the weakest part of my suspension since they are an all season tire, but your in socal, maybe try some kumho summer tires for good grip.

a very good car and driver comparison showed that expensive tires are not always better tires. so don't just buy the most expensive tires you can buy.

I've got Kumho high performance summer rubber, like you said Drax, they're fairly inexpensive but they do have a pretty decent amount of stick.

I agree with everyone else. I do some back road runs around the area and with a great set of tires, struts, springs, and the TRD sway I think the car handles great. On the track/auto-x it does fine, maybe a set of coil-overs would be ideal, but I'm happy.

On the subject of the Falkens, the Azenis are amazing:

A very nasty street tire for a very good price.

Good luck!

If you're looking for inexpensive tires, I got my Falken tires at SEARS for $77 each. It is a 215/45/17 ZR rated. anyways, yeah I just brought my car up to touge also around an isolated hill area with lots of twists and turns that goes up to 3-4 miles long. and it wasn't all that bad like I thought, the tC handled pretty well for a FWD and how much it weighs, in my opinions. The hill that I went to, the roads were short enough that my rpm doesn't go pass 3500. It was all about the curves so then I got some torque to pull me uphill. Of course, I rather have an RWD or a really light weight car for touge, but what can I say. I got a tC and I'll stick with it, and enjoy it.

Tein Super Street coilovers w/ Pillowball mounts

Electronic Dampening Force Controller, aka change stiffness while driving.

Great setup! I envy you !!

Default Weight reduction

Car handles like a boat due to the heavy roof and trunk. Carbon trunk would make it handle much better. Carbon sunroof would too.

Im not wrong, glass is heavier than sheet metal. Also these cars and parts for them are being bought and sold a lot again. People looking for advice on them and I didn't see anything helpful here.

A carbon trunk and roof seem like a horribly expensive way to save some weight, which might minimally lower the Cg of the car...far more cost effective ways to make a car handle better.

My single biggest chassis improvement is driving the legal speed limit.

Total parts cost runs about 1400. Not that much if it lowers center of gravity. In combination with a good set of coilovers and a proper chassis setup the car would be completely different in the corners.

If you want a car that can handle the twist and the turns and the torsional rigidity that it might be subjected to....... Get yourself a damn second generation Mazda Miata. Not only are those cars rear-wheel drive and convertible but the chassis is a thousand times stiffer than an enclosed car such as the Scion tC. Mazda is a ____ company......but when they partnered up with Ford, they made some great rally vehicles.

This is far different than your first post spouting the huge differences the carbon trunk and roof would make...I'd spend the money on suspension first and the above post just confirms it.
