at least focus more on the width for good traction on the snow rather than rim size

You want a thinner tire for winter so it can cut through the snow and grip on the asphault underneith. There is a tirerack consultant on this site somewhere. And there are a couple treads on snow tires already. I have a set of 17's I'm gonna run with Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50's for the winter.

Get a set of used 16" Celica GT-S rims. Run a 205/55 16 tire because that's the closest match. You don't need different lug nuts and the center caps from the tc fit the center of the celica rims.

have you tried putting the GTS wheels on a TC, or you just think they will fit right?

you don't want to put winter tires up front w/o putting winter tires out back, too..the car would have serious potential to slide..which wouldn't be cool, as some people may think. it's ok to put winter tires out back on a RWD vehicle and leave all-seasons or whatever upfront, because those wheels are simply being powered, they're not steering the car.

should fit i have seen matrix rims on a a tc, tc rims on a gts and gts rims on a matrix so i dont see why they wouldnt fit on a tc.
