Default Another Question

I just got a set of XXR 527's in Flat Black. I live in SW Ohio so are winters vary a lot. One day it'll be 40-50 degrees, and the next it'll be 7 degrees with a foot of snow.

Do you guys advise putting my new wheels on? Right now I'm using stock plastidipped wheels and despise how they look. I really want to put the XXR's on, but don't want to ____ them up. In the winter I usually wash my car off once or twice a week just to keep it clean. Will the salt destroy my rims if I put them on?

EDIT: They are made out of an aluminum alloy, if that makes a difference.

Yes, the salt will eat your xxr's. If you wash it a couple times a week, then you'll be fine. That doesn't give the salt enough time to do any major damage. If you left the salt stay caked on there for weeks, you'll have issues. Otherwise, keep rinsing them off and you'll be alright. I used to do it by hand each and every night after driving in snow.

Yeah, I'm pretty paranoid about salt (after seeing what it did to my jeep wrangler years back) so I typically wash them off a TON. I wasn't sure how well the XXR clearcoat / finish held up in the winter time - but you think they'll be fine aslong as I wash them?

Yes they will. Throw them on. You know you don't want to wait til May anyways, so you know you are going to do it anyways. Just pull the trigger and thrown them on. Post pictures. You'll be happy and won't have to wait. Just rinse them off and you're good. Clearcoat will hold up just fine.

Nicest wheels I've owned (compared to my brothers Vulks and Vertini's, haha.) Even though they aren't expensive, I threw most of my money under the hood and just now started to make it look nice. As you said, I really wanted to put them on, but was just afraid come summer it'd look like ____ xD

Thanks for the reply though! :D
