Default Do i need new lugs?

so i bought new rims, 18" axis hiros. I just bought new tires for them, and they should be here today or monday.

my question is, do i need to buy new lugnuts, or can i use the ones i have? and if i need new ones, how can i tell which ones i need?

Thanks

well if ur on stock wheels u cant use stock lug nuts. so yes u would need a new lug nut i believe. ummm i think u should ask a store that sells lug nuts like http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...2/merchant.mvc just email or contact them n ask.

Yes you need new ones, you need something like a "acorn style." Almost all of the lug nuts such as Rays are acorn style.

*facepalm*.
k you'll need aftermarket lugs. if you wana cheap out, just pick up the ones that you saw at autozone. if not, mutekis are decent, they're cheap and they work, but now "whoa" factor. if you want to step it up, ray's, project kics, volks, all make very good lugs for 100-200$.
our thread pitch is 12.1.5, the only thing you have to decide is if you want a short normal sized lug or an extended lug that's longer.

ok... call me cheap or just a kid, but i dont understand dropping hundreds of dollars on lug nuts. i understand that i shouldnt cheap out, but if they keep my wheels on and look ok, whats the point?

expensive lugs are lighter, way more durable, look way better, fill up the hole better, scratch the wheel less, make it harder for people to jack your wheels. i'd go on, but it'd be like talking to a wall since you're just a cheap kid. lol

i dont see why lighter would matter to me. and i wont be taking them on/off much at all, and if they are locking, i dont think anyone will jack them. im not saying im going to autozone and picking up the cheapest set, im looking at mutekis now. i think they will be fine, unless someone can really talk me out of it

lol i could go up to anyone with oem toyota/scion/lexus lugs and steal their wheels with ease (master wheel lock kit) i could go up to anyone with spline drive lug nuts and steal their wheels with ease (deep 17mm socket) i could go on and on.

i have yet to see anyone post up that their wheels got stolen with a set of rays lugs (rays locks have a 7 sided lug with a slash in it for extra measure) or a set of project kics.

tell me where you live and i bet i can get your wheels off with ease lol.

btw, i have NEVER stolen anyones wheels, and i wouldnt steal your wheels, i would take them off and lay them next to your car. just to show you lol.

oh and id rather have lighter lugs then heavier cus they are cooler haha

are the ray lugs really that good? just got a recommendation to use gorilla spline drive lugs. should i really shell out the additional cash for rays or will the gorillas do?

I just took a look at the rays lug nuts...what's to stop someone from stealing the lug nuts themselves, davedavetc? For that matter, are those lock nuts really that secure?

Thanks for the enlightenment! (I am in need of some lugs QUICK!)

I dunno if speed element is still doing it, but they were selling blox lugs for $60. Just know that the pitch for our lugs are 12 x 1.50 and most likely your going to be needing conical ones.

http://www.speedelement.com/index.ph...mart&Itemid=38

I dont know where there other colors are, but they have them in blue, gold, red, black, purple.

just get the autozone ones you saw.

i personally wouldn't get anything but rays or other high end lugs just cause i feel a little safer with 1000+ wheels. but that's just me and how i justify expensive lugs.

Can't steal rays lugs, LOL.

It's practically begging for a socket.

There is no lug that isn't jackable, but someone would have one hell of a time with those mcgards
