Do i need new lugs?

The lug with the "lock" looks just like the rest of the lugs, only one has an indent for the socket to fit INTO. Which makes no sense to me. A normal socket will still sit right over it

These would probably be beat by that socket I posted with the different rods in it, but it'd be a little harder to beat by someone who was only prepared with a hammer and a socket set.
I've worked at dealerships too and the guys who deal with the trade ins have all of the tricks to deal with stuff like lost keys for wheels, so theres NO lug that is theft proof.
I still love baller lugs cause they are just that - more baller/rare/expensive but I wouldn't buy them for added security.
edit: those other two you posted, davedave, look much more secure than the rays. But still beatable. I can't get over how the rays are set up, lol... they look like the stock lugs.

ill just ask my snap on guy for a set tomorrow
One of these couldn't get the rays lug off?

Maybe i'm missing the math behind it or something, lol. If the correct size doesn't fit, again i'm pretty sure the ole faithful hammer and one size down would do it
If anyone wants to put up their car fitted with rays lugs to the test, i'd like to see how difficult it is.
The other two you posted I wouldn't bother with if I was a thief... too much of a hassle IMO. But the rays look more than doable.
lol @ the lock kit... i've seen so many cases of those. Looking in the drawer of a guy I knew at the Toyota dealer, he has like everything you need to rip off a car in a hurry. From different wheel key removal kits, to kits with wedges and an airbag to pump the door away from the jam to unlock the car with a metal stick specially made for the job.

no i dont think that socket would work, doesnt look like the right orientation of the teeth... seen as how the rays lug has 7 sides which put them at different angles of a 6 sided lug, that looks to be a 12 sided socket which wouldnt fit over a 7 because the angles arent the same.
im not sure if it would work....
i havent had a problem with my rays, infact im gonna be pickin up another set cus i just traded mine for something special lol.
i might be cheap and buy the gold blox just cus i live in a fairly nice neighbor hood and done worry about theft but idk yet

nothing is impossible to steal, but they will be more difficult then using the mcgard or spline locks.
that link with the prelude was the first time i heard of a set of wheels being stolen with rays lugs (but then again i never looked lol)

I was just talking to the wheel and tire guy that's gonna be doing the swap over to my new wheels/tires and he said that the Rays don't last too long in the northeast weather/salt/sand. Anyone know if that's true?
He also said that the McGard are the "industry standard" because they have a lifetime warranty...his words not mine. LOL
Pricing-wise, the Rays are about 40 more than the McGard. i'm only rocking some Enkei gtc01s...is it worth the extra bucks to get the rays?

nice wheels
and as for the rays not lasting, i've had rays for 2 years now (on and off) and my black lugs never even faded, u just gotta wash them every once and a while.
the red ones fade to pink i guess... im guessing thats more for the people in hotter sunnier climates
and the blues fade to a lighter blue for the same reason as the reds i would guess.
and xander i had shorts and extended, and my buddy up here just got black extended lugs, both of us couldnt be happier.

Thanks everybody for the advice on this topic. I'm going with the McGard splinedrives and wheel locks. It wont stop the professional thief, but nothing would. It'll def stop some random thief tho.
Thanks, again!
