Default Duplicolor Clear

I am painting my rims tomorrow and im using duplicolor black and i am debating whether or not to use a clear coat because i have browsed these threads and alot of people have problems when using the duplicolor clear coat. I want to use a clear coat so they are protected longer, will not using a clear coat make it chip easier?

Are you referring to the duplicolor laquer clearcoat? I have used this stuff myself on other painted pieces and it's an awesome clear coat but it requires a good amount of post prep to look glossy ie wet sanding and buffing with rubbing compound.

IMO if you clearcoat the wheels the paint will last a lot longer and more than likely not chip at all although it will require more work to finish. Without clear the paint will eventually show nicks and chips espescially on wheels.

I said eventually the paint will chip. I guarantee you once you rotate your tires your paint will have some little chips here and there.
