Everyday tires for a boring guy?
I got 50k miles on my stock tires ('06 tC) and they need to be replaced. When it comes to tires, I'm a complete idiot. $500-600 on tires would be the limit.
As for the type of tires I'm looking for, I have stock everything with no desire to replace them. It's a daily commuter, I don't race or autox but don't mind driving fast and taking turns a bit quick. Ride comfort and less noise is important. Longevity is a plus as is all-seasonness; living in MD, rain and snow do occur and the tires should handle them. I've seen recommendations for BF Goodrich g-force super sport a/s, Toyo proxes 4, kumho asx... but not sure which is right for me or if those are overkill.
Any suggestions or recommendations? Apologies for being a boring tc owner

I replaced the stocks on my 2007 tC last June with a set of Nexen N5000s. Bought them online at edge racing and had them installed locally. Total cost was just under $300.
So you might think I got some junky tires. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have put nearly 20,000 miles on them and they have been just great. Smooth ride, stick in rain and shine, and still have plenty of tread left. Snow traction isn't great, but they are no worse than any other tire I have driven.
Note that I am not a "performance" driver. My car is my commuter to work in the city and a trip to Georgia twice a year. For my purposes these tires have been superb. Would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I have the Kumho AST on my tC. Just bought another set. They last me roughly 40K as I am at 82K and replaced the stockers at 43K. GREAT for the Houston rain, but they get noisey as they wear down more and more. Just a heads up. I can't beat $94 a tire though. Discounttire.com.

Seems like if they are rotated even half the time you should they last a long time, they will be replacing my Falkens on the Yaris in the fall as well.they really are the overlooked tire to buy for daily drivers.
i have kelly fierce HP's and they are awesome. great all around performance, great in the snow (i deliver pizza in michigan) I have 9k on them so far and used about 1/32" tread, so maybe about 60k left on them.
forgot to mention, they are a lil bit pricey... about $115 ea

Hey all,
Thanks for the replies and advice. Regarding the kumho's, noise level could be annoying. How would you compare it to the stock tires?
Also, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires, they're listed as 225/45/17. Is that a problem with the stock wheels? Current tires are 215/45/17 and I thought I had to stick in the 215 range. Guess not?
