I have 48 hours to think about it, but the guy at Discount Tire called during dinner and told me an offer because they really want to move out the wheels I returned earlier. He said they will: a) pay for the repairs to both wheels and b) give me both damaged wheels for free. So, all I have to pay for is the 2 brand new ones. I'm going to sleep on this one, but I might take up his offer.

Yeah, that's the shop they use. I've heard mixed reviews about Wheel Techniques though.

People say the love 'em, but these people had horrible experiences. My wheels just need lip work, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem, but I can't help but be worried.

that's a hell of a deal, right? If you aren't satisfied after getting them back..sell 'em for what you paid.

I read both of these post...they called and quoted one price and then switched it...these happens because in repairing wheels they need to see them. to get a real quote...they are expensive but they do great work..

My dad had the same problem from americas tire. He just wanted simple machined wheels to replace the steel ones on his S10. He got them, and 3 of them have surface scratches and on had a DENT in the lip. Sent it back, 2 weeks later SCRATCHES AGAIN. These guys just don't care, although, I would not either if i got paid just above min wage. It took 3 shipments of "new" wheels, and the last ones were previously mounted, they said they were mounted on a "display rack"....the wheels were not that great, i dont think they were mounted for display.

those reviews on yelp are true. they did some work for me, although the work was good and it has lifetime warrenty, i was put through some loops about when they would be ready. at one point i seriously thought that they lost my wheels b/c i called and they told me that they were ready and when i went there, my wheels were nowhere to be seen. they told me that they got confused and that my wheels were the next to be started, this was like a week after i dropped them off a few days AFTER they were to be done. and also, make sure to let them know not to touch the centers if they are only working on the centers. i had an older set of wheels that was redone by another shop and they were only to fix minor curbage and they ended up repainting the whole wheel.
