Help with wheel spacers please
My rims barely don't clear the calipers in the front. 18x7.5 black katana kr-5's. The ones in the back clear fine. Grinding the inside of the rim might prove to be a bigger pain than spending 50 bux on a pair of spacers, so I just need some info before I do this. I need only 5mm spacers. Is there any recommendation against only installing spacers on the front and not the back? They don't come with extended studs, so does that mean they aren't really necessary since they are so thin? Also, where do they go, behind the whole wheel/rotor assembly like the ones with extended studs, or in front of everything since they don't have their own studs. I put spacers on my wrangler awhile back, but I didn't need them for rim clearence. Just appearence. How do spacers push the rim away from the caliper? I just don't have a piece by piece diagram so I'm a bit foggy. Last question. I've been reading about wheel bearings getting worn faster. Do they get worn faster the thicker the spacer? And about how much to replace wheel bearings?
Thanks for any help in advance

I think I understand how they go on now. The DIY thread threw me off cuz he took the rotors off and everything thing for the new extended studs. It seems that the rotor will be pushed closer to the caliper, cuz the caliper's set position won't change with the spacer? And the rim gets pushed out since it goes up against the rotor. Still looking for all those answers tho, and do I definitely install it on the rotor, or behind it.
thanks again
thanks again
And I lied, I don't know what I saw before but they DO come with 5 extended studs per spacer. Just looked em up again..

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GET YOUR FRONT SPACERS THAT THEY ARE HUB CENTRIC TO THE WHEEL,THATS THE PROPPER WAY TO USE WHEEL SPACERS , THE SPACERS WILL SEAT UP AGAINST THE ROTORS & BAISICALLY PUSH WHEEL AWAY FROM CALIPERS,YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST 6 TURNS OF YOUR LUG NUT. YOU WOULD NEED TO FIND A MACHINE SHOP TO BUILD THESE TYPE OF SPACERS.
follow the DIY if you are doing it yourself. No one on here could explain it any better. You remove the studs and replace them with the new one and reassemble the brake assembly. You then place the spacer on the lugs in front of the rotor (the space is directly touching the wheel) and then tighten. The inner part of the spacer should fit snuggly into the round hole of the wheel where the hub centric rings usually are situated.
So just taking the wheel off, putting the spacer on the existing studs (no matter how thin the spacer) would cause tightness problems of the wheel itself. Hence the extended studs. Wow this is gonna be fun. Thanks for all your help guys.
