Default How heavy is to heavy??

Been looking around at rims and so far I really have my eyes on the sportmax 006 in gunmetal, I think it would contrast nice with my fm, and notice that they are about 20lbs? Would this be considered WAY to heavy? I'm not sure what the weight is on the stock 17's (btw i'd be sticking with 17's most likely) so i'm curious if these are heavier or lighter.

I also was thinking about pairing those rims up with some Toyo proxes 4 (heard some great things and they seem to be the most popular for our car?) since my tires have some uneven tread wear because I got lazy about rotating (waited WAY to long ) and my alignment was off.

bigwheels.net has those rims with the toyos for a little over $1k. And edgeracing has em for a little under that.

anyway, yay or nay for 20lb rims with Toyo proxes 4's?

toyo px4 was an awesome upgrade from the stock tires. Such a noticeable difference, i have them with 20's and its a significant difference with the get-up-and-go, but it was still worth it for me.

20 is good but if you get like 15-17 pounds you might have a problem with traction unless you get some really sticky tires

^^That doesn't really make sense. Wheel weight has no significant effect (if at all) on traction.

I think he meant that the wheel would burn more rubber from the starting line than usual, .... i think thats what he wanted to say...

^ that would make sense tho. And sometimes, the lighter. the more chance of cracking right? or is that just my dumb theory? haha

pound per inch is the best ratio... if it is less obviously its better haha.

however, if you are within 1-1.5 lbs over, that is still considered lightweight imo.

and please do not use tirerack to determine if wheels are lightweight or not... they are just horrible when it comes to that.

Actually bigwheels.net is the site where I saw the 20lbs. I'm not TO concerned with light weight but I don't want something excessively heavy either.

20 lbs, inst that bad. the wheels im actually considering are 21-22 lbs and are 18" (axis pentas w/maxis lip). What do you guys think of these wheels?

If you really like them, go for it imo.

i got some 20 lb 18's on the way. 20lbs is a little on the lighter side for average priced rims. you can get really light rims if you wanna spend some bucks.

my friend will buy the lightest rims he can find no matter what they look like. hes all about performance and doesnt care much about looks.
