Im new to Scionlife.com and appreciate the extensive amount of posts, with useful information. As Ive been browsing the site, Ive noticed that ALOT of people are choosing to put black rims on their tc's. Is this the new thing? I am in the market for rims, and personally prefer silver, but was curious about the black. Any idea?

 

Depends on what color car you have... I don't think THAT many people are putting black on... at least, compared to any other color.

 

It's not a new thing. There are a lot of tCs here that sport black rims. So many in fact that some people I know want to get rid of their black rims. Don't get me wrong, SOME black rims look good on the tC. But now, black (with a silver/polished lip) is played out.

If you personally like silver, then get silver rims. Go with your gut feeling. It's YOUR tC. So modify it the way YOU want to. Lately I've been checking out wheels at a few sites and silver has definitely caught my eye. It's a sharp color. Post some pics of the rims you've been checking out. It's always interesting to see what people pick out.

 

My tC is white. I like chrome, but not sure how the chrome on white looks. The black with silver rim is nice, for white...but Ill prob stick with silver. I would post pics of the rims Im interested in but Im not very computer savy. I will search for the answer. But here are the ones I like so far....

For size...I think 17 is too small and 20s are too big...so I am trying to decide between 18s or 19s. Ive been reading up on them on the site, but still unsure. I wont be modding it out, so show is what Im looking for, but dont want to make the wrong decision. Does anyone with 18s or 19s wish they would have got something different than what they chose? and if so why

i have 19"s if your not going to lower it they are fine... i have 19"s with Stechs, i love the look, but you need to drive it acordingly... i.e. like a grandma, know your roads, stuff like that, its not for everyone, but i love it!

 

I have a SW and i have some black 18's on mine..Im not a huge fan of the chromed out look. I just dont think it looks good on our car IMO. Gunmetal or Hyperblacks are a good middle ground if your not sure which to pick..

But then again its your car not mine haha so go with what you like!

I was looking at getting some 19's and finally just decided to stick with 18's just because they were a little cheaper and much more driveable. It wasnt worth ruining the ride for me but you just gotta pick your set up wisely..

18s are a good size.

I have black rims with a chrome lip, and sometimes I feel that I should have gone with with a simple 5 spoke all silver rim. But other times I dont. So just make sure you get it right the first time.

I agree with whats already been said. 18 is a good size for our cars. 19 is nice too but you gotta be more aware of your setup and driving ability. As for color, ive always loved gunmetal, hyperblack, etc.

 

Stick with 18s. Your ride won't suffer as much (if any) if you were to get 19s. Plus, its a lot easier to find tires in 18s than 19s. Check this link for pics of SW tCs. The choices you listed aren't bad and either of those colors will look good on a SW.

 

I got matte black wheels with machined lip. I kind of wished they made them in glossy, but it looks good either way.

When I got the tc, I didnt know how popular black rims were, until I see every other black car have black rims after I got them installed. Funny we dont notice this stuff until after the fact. Like I didnt know how many tcs were really out on the streets until I got one.

I also wish I couldve gotten a rim with deep dish and polished lip :D which is about as common as they come, but they look seriously good on black cars.

I havent had the car for more than 2 months and Ive already gone through two seperate sets of aftermaket rims. Now I want gold 5-6 spoke rims with deep dish polished lip because those are rare on black tcs... but some days I still want black rims... depends on my mood I guess.
