Default Steering Wheel Shake..?!?!

I just purchased HP Racing Evo Speedmesh Hypersilver 18X8 rims from wheelsnext.com, first of all I love these rims, but the issue I am having is that when I am on the freeway just a little after 65MPH the steering wheel starts to shake back and forth...WTH! I took the tires to my local shop and they did balance them for me since they installed them....balanced them SO THEY SAY! The odd thing i find is that if i change lanes the shaking sometimes stops...then starts again then stops.

What should I do? Have them re-balanced at another tire shop? Before everyone asks yes they have the Hubcentric rings on

Loose wheel nut. In this case, most likely the one behind the wheel.

make sure you have center hub rings installed.

no rings will cause your steering wheel to shake.

Well i hope the correct ceneter hub rings are installed, since they came with the tire package when i purchased them.

I took my car to Doc Isotope's house last night and he drove my tC, he said it's not the alignment, one of my tires isn't balanced right............ So I had my dad take my car to the tire shop who installed them and am having them re-balanced this morning,.....i will post an update once they are done.

I would have taken the car myself but....i had to work

you know even if they re-balance it, it might still be off. Tires have low-spots and high-spots. where there is more weight, it's called match mounting. Usually there is a dot on the sidewall that matches up with the valve stem. that gives a smoother ride.

Also it could be, i've had this before, a bad tire. It happens. They put another on and it's smooth again.

hahaha.. it's ALWAYS something, isn't it??!?

glad that the re-balance took care of it. My big question is why they couldn't get it correct the first time. I've noticed that too, sometimes you take it in, balance, perfect. Other times balance, no good. I really think it's who is doing the balancing.

LOL Tell me about it, if it's not one thing it's another. I can live with the hatch rattle, it was the steering wheel shaking that was concerning me, but all is well now!

Drop it like it's hot! It'll look real nice once it's lowered. What's the going rate for installed springs now anyways? When I got mine, there was a special for the TRD springs and sway bars for 190. I did the install myself. What a farking pain in the A hole it is to get to the rear upper strut nuts. Anywho, nice wheels. Wish my car was still that shiney.
