My brother and I decided to measure my stock alloy. He measured from lip edge to lip edge across the wheel. It came out to be 18.5 inches. But the tire says "215/45r17". How can this be possible? Are we measuring at the wrong place?

 

I believe they take the measurments from the inside of the rim....

u would have to take ur wheel off flip it around and measure from the back

 

lol ya u gotta measure from inside the rim in the middle

 

I see 17 inch tires on 18.5 inch wheels all the time lol
