Default Tire Pressure Sensor transfering problem

So I went to the local shop today to get my rims on. I have an 07 tC so I knew about transferring my TPS valves.

Once removed from my old stockies, the mechanic tried to mount the TPS on the new rims. And guess what? They don't work. The inner wall of the new wheels don't have the little mount to support the fricking TSP. He told me that he can just put on a valve and the TSP light will always be on in my car. Being totally stupid, I said yes. So now, I have new wheels (which I love, and fit my car fine), 4 TSP sensors in my hands and a car with the TSP light constantly on.

Has anyone run into this problem? Is there a solution?

Please help, I hate the fricking warning light, but I dont want to learn to live with it...

you know where the hole is for the valve stem?

On the stockies, the inner wall has a groove that sort-of lumps out. That wall supports the TSP sensor.

In my new one, I dont have that mount on the inner wheel wall. Then they test fitted the TSP, the stem of the TSP stuck out at a wrong angle. :\

is there anything I can do?

PS: trung, do you have a shop that can try to work at it?

There are aftermarket band and bracket kits that exist for just this purpose...You install the sensor into a special bracket that holds it in place, and then band that to the center of the wheel, so you use regular valves on the wheel itself, but have the sensor functionality at the same time.

hey there i upgraded this summer from the stock wheels to 18x7.5 enkeis. I have an 07 and had to swap the TPS out. When the mechanic and I did it, the enkei's didnt have the inner wall to support it, but it was only about 1/8 inch away from the tps.
I was hestitant at first, but eventually installed them by screwing in the tps to the rim. I've been running with them in there since June, and the TPS light hasnt gone on at all. I even took it to a toyota dealership for a tire rotation and oil change, and they said they were functioning fine.
Hope this helps

The tire shop swapped mine over just fine. You should just disable the light on your dash.

I too would like to know, if you replace your rims with new ones and the TPMS doesnt fit on the new wheels, is there any damage to just driving around without the sensors and the light always on? Cause I could learn to live with it....

Nope no damage. Just the annoying light.
