Default tire recommendations

hay yall
noob here with a real basic request:
i need a list of good tires for rainy weather
tired of the hydroplane on my stocks.
i'm willing to spend a few bucks but i don't wanna go broke, either.
also, if it ain't too much too ask, anybody has ANY info about where to buy tires in the new orleans area (without getting ripped off)
thanks

Avon Tech M550 A/S

Continental ContiExtremeContact

Both through tire rack are just over $100 and are really good tires for summer/rain/winter.

I plan on going with the continentals since I have had them in the past myself and loved them.

I had conti extreme before on a porsche, they were okay, not very responsive though. I now have the Avon M550 on the tc, they are awesome, dry/wet conditions, great all-around tire!

i'll throw in my 2 cents.. toyo proxes4.. definitely good in the rain, just as good in dry conditions.

-great handling, responsiveness, ride, noise, braking, no loss of fuel economy (sometimes sticky tires will do this, but not these)
- great traction in dry and wet

i think the proxes4 do have the "wheel lip protection".. not as much as the stock tires did but enough..

but looks like you need to educate your girlfriend on parellel parking besides would be good excuse for hands on.. lol

Go with the Avon Tech M550's.

I have them and heartily recommend them.. they're very hard to break loose in the rain.

just bought a set of asx.
local shop had buy 3 get one free.
couldn't pass it up.
may not be the best bang for the buck, but man, compared to the stocks it's night and day
still, the more opinions the better, i'm gonna need to buy more tires eventually, i'd like to buy the best.
