ok well i have a question been reading and searching. found out about some stuff but nto what i wanted to know. ok well i have a 06 tc. and wanted to know when i decided to get new wheels. what do i need to do with the tpms sensors. i beleive they read through the abs sensor from what i read. but is there anything i need to do when i swap the wheels out? just curious. cause the place i was going to purchase my wheels from was trying to charge me 380 for new sensors. and im really not sure i want to pay that if i can just use old ones or of i dont need to swap or whatever lol just lmk what i need to do exactly thanks. any help is apprecaited thanks.
there is nothing you need to do and if they want to charge you for new ones then they are idiots and you need to goto a new shop........2008 car models and up are the only ones with it in the rim valve stem, there are some types of cars out there that used this system prior to 2008,but not Scion.
Also you should ask them if for the money they are gonna program your computer to recognise the new sensors, cause they need a dealership to do that and that is even more money.......
I would call them up and tell them they are going to get a call from the BBB for trying to rip a person off.......
for future referance TMPS can be taken from stock rims and put in to other rims and most rims will accept them if made after 2005.they sent us this info at the retailer I work for back in 2005 cause there were so many confused people gettign ripped off by tire shops for this very same thing.
Guaranteed that shop knows your sensors are in the ABS.......and if they don't they do not need to work on cars.
