Smile Where To Buy Tires and Get Them Installed?

Hi, you may remember me from my snow experience a month or so ago. Well I'm planning to get new tires and don't know really where to go. I can go on the internet and get them shipped. Except I can't wrap the tire around the rim with my bare hands. Plus shipping is expensive and tires are heavy LOL.

I got a coupon to Firestone to get PZ900 Primewell's for $68.99 a piece. I thought this was the best deal ever. Not sure about installation pricing. Also these tires suck in the snow as I have learned hehe.

I also saw Costo has tires too. I was looking at the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport's that are $113.99 plus $14/tire install.

Seems like a no-brainer to me and just get the PZ900's. But I am asking the tc Nation for where you guys get tires at.

Tirerack.com or Discounttiredirect.com.

DTD has free shipping. TireRack usually has lower prices, but you pay for shipping (so you have to compare the two).

Usually you will STILL be cheaper buying online and shipping and paying for mount/balance than you will by buying and installing at a shop completely. I've compared a lot and have buying tires online for years. Always has worked out better. Plus you get WAY better selection than a single or even multiple shops can offer.

Once you get your tires - just call around your area and find out who has the best price to mount and balance. Usually should be somewhere around $12-$15 per tire. Like I said, even paying for this, in my cases, it has always come out cheaper to buy online.

What kind of place will install these tires? Will they be mad I didn't buy from them? How do I get the tires to the shop? Willl they fit in the scion tc? I don't have a truck.

Any shop should do it if they like money. I've never had a problem finding a place to do it. Ironically my dealer is one of the best places based on price. Just tell them you have tires you'd like mounted and balance and ask how much.

I've take TWO sets with me before (one set of wheels and one set of tires to have things swapped - long story) and they've fit in the tC no problem. Just put your seats down. Lay an old sheet or tarp down to protect everything inside if you want.

Will a place like Costco do it? I don't want to be stuck somewhere where they go slow on purpose just because they are mad. At least at Costco I can eat food or something LOL. I've done the internet thing before on other products not car related like to have a bowling ball drilled and the driller made me wait like 1 hr and the price to get the ball drilled cost almost as much as it cost to buy the ball online LOL! He was mad or very very slow ahha!

All you have to do is ask. Like I said, I've never had a problem. Shouldn't take anymore than an hour anyway. Cake for them. Just make sure to make an appt if you can (not sure how Costco does that - we don't have those here).

Will probably get them installed at Firestone since I can make an appointment on the website.

I saw on that discount tire direct, some of the packages are reasonable. If I were to get wheels and rims together I'd get the Hancook tires (I like the tread design hehe) and black rims. Are black rims still in style? I don't want people laughing at me when I'm driving.

Sorry for sounding like a noob. I used to be up-to-date with cars, but now I'm an oldtimer haha!

Last time I went to the dealership for a free-recall on the airbags, I wound up paying over $300 for oil change, air filter change, and check over. Never going back there LOL!

I don't really know what to say about the "in style" wheels. I mean if you think they look good and like them, don't worry about it.

That said... the "black with polished lip" look has kind of passed - but that doesn't mean people don't get them any more.

Man time passed me by . I always wanted the black with polished lip since I got bsp TC. My car isn't lowered or anything so maybe I should stick with the stock rims? I just want some wide, beast looking tires.
