RE92s are ok at best. Overpriced for sure.

rdck: try Kumho Ecsta Supras. Grip is much better than the Bridgestones and the price @ The TireRack is unbeatable.

Edit-
The Kumhos are summer tires.

toyo proxes 4...no better all-season tire...especially for the price!

I got my toyo proxes 4 225/45-17 for $112 a piece....quite a bit less expensive and considered a better tire according to reviews and consumer reports. Falken only makes good summer tires, their all-seasons are just not up to par.

For all you Socal folks: get summer tires. All-seasons are all-seasons only because they use rubber formulated to keep elasticity below 32 degrees. Summer tires generally have great wet grip and even greater dry grip (obvious?) so there's no need to get all-seasons down here.

Just so dex knows...

You can say what you will about the fact that I have 50K miles on my Potenzas. After asking a couple of friends wether I drive conservatively, all I got was hysterical laughter. My car has been to Vegas, Chicago, Ohio, and more. I have driven in all weather conditions, and have only one problem in an area that has had more cars slide off of it than I can count.

I am a hard driver, as is I drive for a living so I know how tires handle. If you start to lose control on a wet surface, it doesn't matter what kind of tire you have. It is all in how you handle the car. I guarantee if those who say these Potenzas are garbage ( which in reviews that I have read get better ratings than a whole lot of other tires out there ) could replicate the incident that occurred that caused a wreck with them, they would find that it would happen with any tire they purchase.

Or then again maybe I am a fluke of nature, and this is all bs.

Oh and before I forget, does anyone know what the correct definition of hydroplaning is?
( If you do than tell me how well any tire works if that occurs. )

Well, I have never seen ONE tire run 50k without being well past its wear indicators. I drive mine pretty normally, dont push it hard much at all, and I was lucky to reach 34k on them. They were right on the wear markers. So if you got 50k, I dont see how and you should call yourself lucky.

Second, any tire that can run super high mileage is typically harder, meaning they grip like ****. I have yet to see anyone get a long life (other than you) out of these tires or good grip. I have also yet to meet anyone who has run them and liked them. I know a few people that got subies with them.. first thing they replaced. Practically everyone feels they are the weakest point of the tC stock and the set on my saturn sucks for the most part.

And tires do not help once you are hydroplaning. Where did you hear anyone say they did??? Proper tire design helps to prevent hydroplaning, which many tires do a LOT better than the stock potenzas.

Like I said, I think a lot of people go a little too far with calling them complete trash, but they are below par with probably 80% of the tires I have ever ran on any car and for the price, they are worse than any tire I have ever run.

Slap on a set of Avons, Toyo's, Pirellis, etc and tell me how what you think about the bridgestones. I garauntee it is like night and day.

I'm not going into much of what you said just b/c its already been said and to repeat would be trying to force you to believe something that you don't, so I won't say anything about that. Just two things that aren't controversial lol.

1) Get a really good set of tires whenever you do decide to get rid of the bridgestones (this is assuming you wouldn't buy another pair of the potenzas, especially considering the price). When you get those REALLY good tires (I recommend toyo proxes 4), post back in here and let us know if you still feel the same way. And not a review just from the tire place home. Really break em in and have some fun with em. Let us know then.

2) Thats why its called hydroplane resistance. Any tire can hydroplane but certain tires are more prone to it than others. Take extremes just to make it most obvious. Drive a racing slick in the rain vs a great rain tire (probably a summer tire) and see which you can get to hydroplane first. Not that the summer tire won't, but it'd take a heck of a lot more to do it.

And keep in mind that the tire size, aspect ratio and width play a role in how a particular tire performs. So what may work on one car may not seem so good on another.

So, going from Tireracks survey reviews, you get this for the re-92's:

and this for the Avon TECH M550s (just using the tires I have as comparison):

Not to mention the Avons are about $80 cheaper PER TIRE.

Try the Falken Ziex Ze512's you can get them cheap, they are a great allweather tire and they are very light (less unsprung weight) they also have a high treadwear.

mine lasted about 26K on my wrx, I just ordered them with my new wheels for the tc too.
