Default Wider tires on stock rim

I was just wondering if anyone out there has put a wider tire on the factory rim, if so what were the dimensions.

Some have posted using 225 without issues, but any wider than that isn't recommended on the stock 7" rim width.

Sorry to say that's too wide for the stock 7" rim width. Most tire manufacturers make the following recommendation;
For 50-series tires and higher, the measuring rim width is 70% of the tire's section width, and for aspect ratios lower than a 50-series, the measuring rim is 85% of the tire's section width.

Do the math and you'll find 235 is too wide, that width & aspect ratio calls for an 8" wheel.

well tell me this if you go to discounttiredirect.com, then why to they tell you that you can fit a 235 on a +0 stock 17" rim....and if your talking about the 40 series, bro thats the sidewall height not the actual width of the tire, but anyways i just measured the inside of the tire where it seals up to the rim and its a lil less then 7" so im good...

well it has been confirmed that 235's do fit rather perfect on the stock rim i just got them put on today and i couldn't be any happier, soo all of you out there are "smart" about tire sizes, re-think what your talking about as well as thinking about bc 235's can fit on a stock 17X7" rim.

Here, maybe reading this will help, if you can understand it. Regardless, I quoted information from that page, so if you have an issue with my previous post, take it up with Yokohama. Fine that you're happy with your tires, but they are out of spec for the wheels, whether you care or not.

It's a question of "fit" versus "optimal". Your tires fit, but they're out of spec for the wheel width. If you don't understand this after reading the info on that page, ok, but I hope others get it.
