hey peeps, for those of you that run on wilwood brake kit. are you experiencing any problems with your braking? having any sound when you begin to drive the car or while you are making a turning or when you stop and pump the brake hard for a couple times then when you start driving again you hear any noise? im asking because im experiencing all the problems stated above, i also feel that my car is being held back by the brake....like the piston on the caliper isnt retracting back. and does your caliper piston area have that o ring, the rubber ring around the piston itself like the ones that are on the stock? because i dont have any of the rings on the pistons and the person i spoke to at wilwood said thats how it is suppose to be. im very curious because its making those noise and its not a pleasent feeling while driving..its scary and dangerous. plz help me out!

i have heard about those problems with the wilwood. They're nice brakes, but apparently they dont have adequate dust covers so dust buildup might be causing the noise.

try crazy cleaning?

Calipers will not cause a master cylinder to fail *LOL* A higher milage car or cheap reman master cylinders will have failures.

Noise does not come from lack of dust sheilds on the pistons. Noise comes from the polymatrix compound wilwood uses on the pads. It is dusty, noisy and bites like a mother. EBC has nice pad options for people wanting less dust or noise.

The age old complaint on wilwood calipers is they do not have dust sheilds on the caliper pistons. The only time this has any effect is in snowey conditions with high salt content on the roads which can cause corossion of the pistons just like any other caliper. But when changing out pads for a new set, the corroded piston when pressed in can damage the seal. Good news is most wilwood calipers unloaded run about $15 each haha. I personally have never witnesses a wilwood caliper fail from dust unless it had 100,000+ miles on it. Check with your local autox group. Wilwoods are inexpensive quality products and TONS of actual racers use them. They are not just a show product like most current aftermarket 40 piston hyper bling brake systems

Current price is right at $1000-$1100 shipped online. Some ebayer back in the day had them for $899 with no slots or crossdriller rotors, also no ss brake lines.
