Winter Is Coming...What are you running?
well today was the first biting cold day here on long island. yes..october 14th.
just realized im still riding on my 20inch konigs/proxes 4. with about an inch and a half of rubber between the pavement and the rim, this isnt quite the ideal setup for the cold/winter months on long island. the proxes are great in all kinds of weather though.
Its a matter of hidden potholes, ice chunks, horribly salted/sanded roads, snow drifts etc etc etc. grrr.
going to through the stockies back on, but wondering what tires to run. Theres not going to be snow on the road EVERY day from november on, so i think blizzaks will get eaten up fast from the road.
so.
if you live anywhere that experiences cold weather, tell us what your riding on, sizing, and experience with the setup.
thanks

I'm in upstate NY. I just removed my Advans and put my stockies back on. I've been using 205/55/17 Michelin Pilots for 4 years now. Tread us still around 85% since I only use them in the winter (prolly 13,000 miles on them).
I bought them because as you said, there is not snow on the ground all the time so they are good both in snow and on dry / wet roads and have a quiet and good handling ride. They are not the best but no tire will be great on the tC. It's all driver experience. Either way, I'm surprised how well the tread has lasted on these and how good they are on dry roads and in snow.
People who live in areas such as Buffalo where it snows all winter may want a more snow dedicated tire such as Nokian.

Yokohama W.Drive snows. Got them cheap last year and they're good enough for me.
I had put them on already a week ago for a rallyx event and was going to take them off this week. Glad I didn't. Snow this morning.

haha, yeah I'm near Albany....Only takes me 20mins to be at the Mass turnpike. Haven't decided if I'm selling them or not yet. They are off the car and chilling in my basement right now. They have Vredestein tires on them and Project Kics R40 lugs if needed. One wheels has a very tiny rock chip which is unnoticeable. Other than that they are in great shape. Sent you a PM on pricing. btw, If I sell Checho has first dibs if he is willing to pay for shipping to Miami and/or if he still is interested, lol.
