Default 2012 Spoiler Installation..

I recently bought this on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=370702724794

Cheapest i found that was painted so I bought it. Now, I'm just wondering if this will install just as an actual OEM factory one will install. The package came with 6 screws, and 6 rubber bushing type things.

I'm also wondering if the bolt/screw holes will line up the same cause i might be able to get my hands on a template from my buddy who is a tech at a local Toyota/Scion dealer where i got my car from.

Only worried cause well, a car i spent 22k on, having to drill holes in the trunk lid, one ____ up I'm screwed lol

I have the same spoiler and it fits very well. Not sure about the holes lining up though, im using 3m double stick tape to hold mine on. Been 8 month and tape is still holding good.

i bought the same one on eBay. I used 3M tape but with the hot weather and super cold weather in Canada the tape gaved up. Also with other people closing your trunk lid. They may slam the trunk instead of carefully closing it and the tape may start to get soft and dried up. I would go with drilling and it will be alot safer because you will never have to think about weather or people slamming your trunk and your spoiler go flying off when your on the highway.. I drilled 6 holes and up to now.. 1 year and few months. It holds and I never have to care about it and also to people slamming my trunk..

I installed it, ill update with pics after work

The holes didn't line up with the template so I went a different route, I've got 4 screws in, the middle 4 but I couldn't drill in the 2 on the outside, 1 to each side because I had no way of screwing it into the spoiler because there's metal covering it, factory spoilers have tabs that push into the trunk lid cause you can't put screws in from the inside

There is actually a template that Toyota uses when drilling holes for their spoiler installation.. Too bad we can't find it...

I kind of screwed up on my hole drilling too but who cares.. onces its on and theres more than enough rust proof spray on the holes. Its staying in forever. lol...

There is a template, a buddy of mine that is a tech at the dealer I bought my car from grabbed it from work, but those template holes don't 100% line up with this spoiler

I purchased a different spoiler from another dealer off eBay and the worst part of installation was that the holes on the metal framing didn't line up with the holes on the spoiler, so I had to drill holes in the inner metal frame.

In the end, it still looks nice, and will be sturdy for quite a while.

I, too have seen these wings on eBay as well and have been considering getting them for my tC2. Have some questions tho about the quality of them:

1. How is the paint match? Is it decent or can you tell if its cheap paint?
2. Is the dimensions, fit, and finish near the factory wing?
3. Would you recommend this wing to someone?
4. Overall score you would give to the quality of it? 1-10, 10 being the best.

Paint match was basically spot on, quality of the paint job was pretty good on mine too
Its the same as the factory wing, only difference is how it actually fastens to the trunk with screws, from factory their held on by tabs and screws
I recommend this to anyone really as long as they are comfortable drilling at least 4 holes in their trunk without messing it up lol

Over IMO 9/10, only cause directions are vague, really gotta read through them to understand what it's talking about when prepping the spoiler to match to the trunk to drill the proper holes
