One word of CAUTION for everyone...every tab is a different width...make sure you put it on the right way. The ink side goes against the light with the widest tab at the top as drawn. Cut out that center hole and it will just go over the little hexagonal tit and that will center your cutout in the right place.

Not too bad...I held a vacuum near the opening while I stuck an air hose in through the hole. The air forced out all the chips and the vacuum caught it all.

I also did one other thing different than the OP…I did not splice into the wires of the left side backup light at the socket as shown by the OP, I spliced into the wires on the other side of the whole tail light connector, on the car side. If you do as the OP did, you will not be able to disconnect the one connector and remove the whole tail light assembly…there are wires now spliced into the backup light. The OP spliced into the tail light assembly harness and I spliced into the car harness. Just one more thing to consider when doing this mod.

im not really familiar with moding a car an stuff, but do you think you could show me a picture of how you spliced your wires and how your socket looks like?

My socket is the same as the OP's...but here is a photo...
I did not take a photo of the wires I spliced...I will have to do that this weekend.

It absolutely blows my mind that they only did one reverse light. Everyone hated the single light on the gen 2 xB. Why make the same mistake twice, not to mention that it looks like there SHOULD be a light there.

OK...here is my splice job. I spiced into the Black/White wire and the Red wire like this.

did mine today! 2tCornot2tC, what did you use to cut the notches? I was trying to use an exacto knife, but I gave up and left my bulb socket press-fitted into the hole since I used a step-ream to make the hole. Shouldn't have worries with it falling out since the plastic piece is right behind the bulb socket. now I don't have to worry about people telling me that my 2nd reverse light is out..

I used my pattern to mark the edges of the notches...then I used a metal file to make notch itself.

Seems like there are still posts to this thread so I'll give it a shot. The mod says 14 gauge wire but the socket I ordered has 16 gauge leads. What size is on the stock reverse light in the 2011 tc? Can I use the 14 gauge in between if both sockets have 16 gauge? If stock is 14, do I need to get a new socket?

Any additional info is appreciated. I'm trying to do this mod this weekend.

Thanks.
