Question DIY Spoiler install

Im like freaking scared of messing up my car want a spoiler drilled and scared to do it body shop said 100 to paint and install a aftermarket one or a toyota part painted just to drill 50, do i need the template the strut lifts, can i do this myself with a low risk of something going wrong honestly had bad luck before and if i mess this up i dont know what i will do with my car or myself. Can I install my self if i buy the template and does body shop need it.

I hope I'm not too late on this…but I bought a spoiler off ebay (no template no struts).

This job is gonna take you at least 2-3 people. It takes some patience to do measurements and drill holes…all the while makes sure that your spoiler is lined up and sitting properly.

This is difficult because the spoilers don't have much space grabbing on the top of the trunk…so someone will have to constantly be pushing down to make the spoiler even for measurements.

Other than that…you'll have to remove the trunk trim liner…drill through the trunk frame…and through the trunk surface in order to bolt the spoiler down.

I still do not have the struts…all that happens is that the trunk doesn't lift on its own.

Where can higher power struts be found? I just added a spoiler to my car and would like some better struts.

I did it by myself with a stepped drill bit and didn't change my shocks. Just line it up, use the sticker templates it comes with, drill holes and then you pop the interior panels working your way from the top of the hatch (closest to the dome light) and work down. Apply anti rust gel (should come with the bumper) amd then screw in the 4 screws into the holes you drilled.

Ta da

And my spoiler came off ebay for about 140 painted and shipped.

That's gotta be freaky drilling into your car's hatch. I couldn't imagine lol.

Same thing I did but it requires a lot of patience. Grab a beer or smoke some herb because it will get frustrating.
