HID blowing out my fuse..
Hey guys, I have a 2013 scion tc and I really would like some HID. I purchased 10k h11 bulbs 55w kit and it would work for couple weeks and blow out my fuse. After that, I got a new fused replaced (by Toyota) and it blows out in less than 2 days and I got it replace and never used that kit again. My friend has the same kit and I believe he bought it from eBay. (The eBay person had good ratings). My friend owns a Camry and basically used the same kit as mines. He took my kit and used it and it still works (been months now). The weird thing is only the driver side is blowing out.
Could having 10k be too much?
Anyone that purchased hid and had no problems can you please link me to the site they bought it from?
Please and thank you!

The 'k' isnt too much as its just a colour. The 55w on the stock headlight harness might be the problem. Did you get a relay with the kit? Maybe a 35w kit would help.. On a side note, can you even see anything with a 10,000k kit? The higher the K the lower the lumens (visibility) see the link below.

In my opinion, you should always use a relay when doing HIDs. may people are going to say "well i dont have a relay and mine work just fine", or "this so and so web site says they're plug and play". Dont listen to any of that. The purpose of the relay is to supply enough power to the HID kit. can you install without a relay, probably. But adding a relay is a safety measure that will ensure your kit has all the power it needs. Usually relay kits are around $10 and they're already pre wired. JUST DO IT. It cant hurt, and if anything will make your kit function better.
Thanks for all your guys reply!!
I end up getting a relay kit but it didn't work. I'm pretty sure I connected it right be cuz the bulb did light up, but for some reason it like got really really bright and just blow out the actual bulb (my fuse didn't blow this time, which sucks cuz the bulb is actually more expensive).
I might try out thissen idea. But doesn't 35w look different from 55w 8ks?

I've purchased these awhile ago and installed them yesterday.

I've purchased the low beams conversion from the same seller and they are working without an issue.
The high beams were working but giving just a little more light than the low. Driving from my friend's garage to my place, they were light up for 5 minutes then closed for city driving. When I tried to light them up at home, they did not light up.
I'll going to check this out tonight. Maybe a blown fuse? We'll see.

Hey p33kAb00B,
Thanks for ur response but I actually had order a different set of hid lights and I just installed them yesterday and they work!!! ATM, they still turn on without a problem and hopefully it doesn't mess up.
I went ahead and did what thissen advised me to do and got 35w and I think it might be the key! Thanks!!!
P.s LMK when u think. It's my profile picture. And what u think about my white logo (keep or get rid of it?)

We've found a defective hi beam. The bulb was light yellow/brown in the middle. It would light up for 10-20 seconds before clipping.
I've contacted the seller and they sent a replacement right away, the same day as my request for a replacement. Great support and service as they detailled what could be done to find the issue.
The lows are awesome, can't wait to have my hi working again today.
My kit is 35w 6000k all around. I love the nice blueish light on the signs/roads.

Glad you got it fixed! I just wanted to chime in for future readers that may have this problem. 55W kits may have a factor, but I wouldn't really say its the common issue for blowing fuses. 55W kits are more so a factor for the factory harnesses going out, so a relay harness is definitely recommended. However if your fuses are going out, it could simply be a defective ballast. Most generic DC ballasts do not have an internal relay and instead will just blow the cars fuse. If only one side fuse is blowing out, you can simply swap ballast side to side to see if it blows the other side. If it does then you will know its that one ballast is bad.
limegreen, not sure about Florida DOT laws, but technically aftermarket HIDs aren't legal by the books. However if you get a temperature rating 6000K and under, it is generally seen as "acceptable" as they look really close to OEM HIDs. =]

@mengsta: when I had the 55w, I did try to hook up a relay kit but it blew out the bulb instead of my fuse.
I have 8000k which I heard is legal but 10000k I heard is illegal since it resemebles the blue light on the cop cars? Or something along those lines
