HID Question
I just got a 2012 tC and I'm looking to put some HID's in. I was thinking about some 55w 6000k HID's and from what I've seen on here, DDM is a good place to look.
I was wondering two things:
1. Do I need a relay since they're 55w HID's?
2. What other brands/sites should I look at for quality HID's?

Ive owned DDM Tuning hid kits 35w 6k,
To answer you question relay Yes, But! if you would have searched are the the hid thread with a bunch of info you would have all your answers.
I owned DDM 35 dollar kit, good kit, but upgraded to MengMotorsports hid kit, a bit more expensive but way better IMO, brighter, then again you get what you paid for.
I recommend this kit ---> http://stores.mengmotorsports.com/-s...HID/Detail.bok

I have 55W 5000K for lows and 35W 5000K for fogs. I just have the slim ballasts from DDMTuning. Haven't had any problems and it's been about 5 months. I will tell you if you are nit picky about color, do them both in 35W. I can tell a slight difference between my fogs and lows, but you aren't suppose to run 55W in the fogs.. so yeah..

Here is meng testing their kit with a hammer.

Yeah just "slim". I don't know what the regular ones look like, but the slims I can easily tuck on the sides of the engine when the fender comes up. Can't think right now sorry.. They make mounts to for them but I just haven't got that far yet.

If you are considering spending big bucks on the Meng kit, you may as well get the real deal here:

I thought about getting the 5Five's, but I talked with someone with TRS and he recommended the 3Five's because they're more reliable, have a longer warranty, last 500 hours longer, and don't run the potential risk of getting too hot and damaging the housing.

Hmm...I don't know why I thought both the 3Five and 5Five had the same 5 year warranty.
I've been running 55w since January 2011 without any damage to my projector housings. I recently baked and opened them up to install halos and they were completely clean and clear with no signs of burning or anything like that. They looked like they were fresh out of the factory.

So whats the difference between these Meng/Morimoto kits and the $30 e-bay kits?
I have a set of the e-bay lights in my xB and they are much better than the Halogen. It does have a bit of flicker in one bulb for about 10 seconds after startup, but steadies out after that.
I have another e-bay set in my other car for the past 3 years with almost constant use (they are 3000k fogs, use as DRL) and they are still running strong. Had another set (5000k) in the wifes old van in her fogs and they were fine also for about a year before we sold it.
I spent a total of ~$93 on 3 sets that all work fine, what am I missing with the $120+ kit?
