Exclamation If you're thinking of tinting your headlights.

Just a heads up 2012 tC owners. Don't tint the brights portion of the headlights. They will heat up and the tint won't let enough heat escape, causing them to melt. I managed to remove the tint to reduce further damage but now I've got screwed up headlights. So naturally I "fixed" it myself.

how long do you have the brights on to let them heat up to melt the headlight? also. if you can get rid of the rest of the tint, the dealership might be able to replace the headlight saying it was defective

My neighbor is a manager at a Scion dealership a few minutes away, the one I bought the car from actually, and he said he's going to try and cover it under warranty. I don't want to remove the rest of the tint it almost took me two hours and sore arms and fingers just to remove that much. I said if it doesn't work I'll just deal with it later and get some lights that are cooler for $200 a pop. And I only had the brights on for maybe 20-25 minutes.

That's what I did in the first place and it still was a pain in the ___. I used Rustoleum, even though I typically use VHT

well... send it with a 1000 first then 2000
try to take it to a pro where they can mix some black in the clear and paint it like that. that should withstand heat.
