Default Exhaust questions..

I'm wanting to get a catback for my TC2 I'm leaning towards the Megan racing drift style catback. But I'm readin that it deletes the 2nd cat. Has anyone put a Megan catback on their car what was ur experience with the install and did u get a CEL? Thanks any comments are appreciated

I had it on my tc1 and I've also got it on my 2013 tc2 with the blue tip install fit perfectly and bolted up nicely no mods needed and no CEL

The 2nd O2 sensor is on the S-Pipe, and a catback does not go that far up. You shouldn't get a CEL from any catback exhaust

A catback is more than just an axleback exhaust.

TRD makes a catback? I thought they only made an axleback.

I own the TRD and also the Dezod header. Awesome sound that isn't too loud for daily driving. It is very tight, deep, and refined.

I snagged my TRD slightly used for $350 which was a fantastic deal. I wouldn't be able to justify it's brand new price.

ACTUALLY, it's 11 words buddy.. Secondary cat delete and stock res replacement with high flow res.. And it's more like 80 bucks. Now that's equal to a cat back for cheap. A muffler delete is just annoying..

secondary cat deletes will prevent cars from passing the smog test otherwise known as emmissions testing here in illinois. thats pretty ignorant of you to assume that every other person would be willing to do a secondary cat delete without fearing the consequences of not being able to have your car registered due to to the fact that it hasnt passed the smog test.

also, no its not annoying. ive had a greddy exhaust, with open headers and with turbo, custom manifold and DP, as well as muffler delete with turbo and custom piping along with open headers. never have i received an insult from anyone, even my friends who are quite frankly honest with me. IMHO if you have the money for an exhaust go for it, but for 30 bucks, a muffler delete aint bad at all, just my $.02

first, i'd like to point out that while you were running a muffler delete, you were ALSO running a turbo... turbo greatly change the exhaust and back pressure is your enemy.., but for all motor setups (and for that matter stock motor setups) back pressure is your friend.. a muffler delete on NON turbo setups are crap.. people out there like them, i'll give you that.. i'll pull a number out of my ****.. let's say 1 in every 5 people dig raspy sounding exhaust..

second, i thought we were talking about CAT BACK exhaust not AXEL BACK exhaust.. zero cat backs keep the secondary cat, they all delete it.., so if you're trying to smog your car legit, cat backs are NOT for you. the most restrictive part of a stock exhaust is the secondary cat and resonator.., the stock muffler is actually quite the free flowing muffler.. sooo, by deleting the muffler, you get an annoying sounding exhaust (would like to add that this is my opinion..) that is still RESTRICTIVE.. yeah, i'll pass on that..

OP do yourself a favor and just get a nice axel back exhaust OR instead of deleting the muffler, you should replace it with a flowmaster muffler.. some people like magnaflow, but they sound just like our stock muffler.. oh, and don't worry about any CEL's, you will not get from the exhaust mod.. maybe from a header, but that's like a 50 - 50 chance..

I would just stay with stock if your looking at axle back exhaust. I've had a magna flow and it made the lower RPM's feel powerless and mushy and didnt do anything for the upper RPM. Also, you will still need to go back to stock for smog even on an axle back. Granted, its only two bolts and about 20 minutes of work, but I think they are pointless. I have a megan catback and it gives a little more power, a lot more noise and even I have thought of going back to stock from time to time (simply because I'm in sales and the thing is loud, sometimes it makes it hard to talk on the phone)

I have a Flowmaster Force II on my 12 tC along with an Injen SP2116BLK and it sounds amazing.

I paid 39.99$ exhaust (sales for 399.99$) + 100$ shipping to my place in Canada.

Thanks Jegs for pricing error!
