Default might be a bad idea?

so i like messing w stuff taking it apart making it better or just adding on and well heres my idea

1. stock intake
2. buy K&N or other, aftermarket intake to replace stock paper filter
3. replace filter and locate plastic pipe going from the filter to the lower cabin of the car (pointed right next to the inside bod fram)
4. cut piping and replace with homemade fan pointed more downward and further in compartment

most likely the pressure and flow from the stock piping is already strong enough or too strong in which my idea would break hoever, if it does work and stay put together, do you think it would work and increase airflow?

no. it would actually impede or slow down air flow since the air trying to get into your engine is now having to get past a fan to get into your engine.

The most basic principle behind generating more horsepower with a gas engine is forcing more air into an engine allowing you to add more fuel to get greater combustion energy. What you seem to be trying to do is make some kind of homemade fan to help push more air into your engine, like a supercharger or turbocharger does. They aren't just fans, they're compressors. They're externally powered turbines spin very quickly and rapidly compress and force the air into the engine.

A free spinning fan in your intake plumbing being spun purely by the natural flow of air going into your engine is not going to add any power.

Awesome dude u nailed the answer I hate some of the stuff ppl reply back with theres a lot I wanna learn and know..but yea pretty much like a dinky turbo is what I was thinking but never thought about it showing the air down

Default electric turbos busted

yea i guess that pretty much summed it up lol makes total sense tho i did some extensive searches after that vid and all busted the myth about these electric turbo and superchargers

for people that read this what it is, on paper it works..kind of like how the muscles in your eye and tongue are considered the strongest muscles in the whole body granted they cant do pushups or lift 100 pounds..its due to the performance that can put out with the size available..like how ants are 1 of the strongest insects..cuz of what it can carry compared with how big they are

..electric turbos are the same thing..for the size and how they work and what they do "technically" (which means, according to the rules) it can put out up to 50+ extra HP..which also allows them to find the lupole due to the fact yes, it can increase HP by 50 (on paper) but in reality cant

^^^ All correct. There IS a model of electric supercharger that does work but it is basically a high end electrical compressor. Costs around 5-6k, and causes a large load on your cars electrical system which would need to be beefed up. Also would have to be tuned to spin up as the engine RPM's increase. Lotsa trouble if you don't know what your doing.

On of the major advantages of Supercharged (Engine belt driven compressor) and Turbocharged (Exhaust gas driven compressor) is that they increase speeds in tandem with the engine increasing in RPM speeds. This makes a much more linear gain that can be predicted for and tuned into the engines ecu correctly. It is also much more difficult for something to fail causing them to deviate dangerously from that.

On a side note, most superchargers use a form of gearing to dramatically increase internal RPMs. I calculated it once on my Supercharged Tacoma, at 1000 engine rpms, the S/c was spinning at around 5000rpms. At engine speed of 5200, I was around 27,000 rpms inside the supercharger. Even with all that internal speed compressing air, I was only making a flow of 9 PSI.

Planetary Gearing is awesome.
