Default will it work, help me out!

so iv seen that heat resist sheet stuff, you know like a big sleeve you can wrap around stuff to supposedly keep things a little less warm, you can put it around your starter and it helps, whatever cuz its a fuel injected car and the 21st century but ok

so i was wondering tho..the cover over the headers, iw as thinking about putting it on the udnerside of it thinking maybe it would in a sense keep the engine compartment a little cooler, not significantly but maybe slightly..iv seen ppl take the cover off when they get aftermarket headers cuz they look mean as ever but i figured that would also produce more heat

maybe im just wrong about all of it, help me out

Wrapping headers will lead to quicker degredation of them over time as it traps in heat and moisture. Ceramic coatings are best.

Regarding the starter, our starters are actually built as integral parts of the engine, meaning there is no engaging/disengaging gear like in the older styles. The new starters systems are actually a type of permanently mounted electromagnets. Meaning the heat wont effect it as much as it used to with the older Motor Driven style electric starters.

Also fun fact: Means you can shut your engine off and turn it on as much as you want with near negligable wear and tear. Saving gas at stop lights all day long if you choose. I'm not saying that the magnet system will NEVER fail, but it's incredibly likly that it will long outlast your engine.

well you know the heat sleeve stuff you can wrap your starter in..thats what im saying i thought maybe i could take that stuff, which looks like it is made out of exhaust heat tape, and tape it to the underside of the header cover thinking maybe it would trap in some heat instead of letting it all escape

Adding heat wrap to the existing heat shield will accomplish nothing.
