Default motor mounts and stabilizer brace

so people say to switcht he motor mounts so the engine doesnt do the buck fromt he transfered syntriphical force..i get it..but..iv heard of this torque bar stabilizer thing? you attach tot he engine and brace up against something like the firewall

what do you guys have to say? i think i would rather do the brace..of course vibrations will accure but i figured keep the engine in the softer mountsa nd just by this bar i have heard about

and does anybody have install or spec knowledge of this stuff??

Yeah, I mean, the torque damper (bar thingy) is a pretty good modification. It will reduce wheel hop and wheel spin quite a bit and will be noticable. However, you are going to rattle and shake the inside of the car quite a bit as well at idle.

Motor mounts are always great too to transfer the motor movement to the car instead of the motor, but again, vibration-city. You can't go wrong with them at all, they all help quite a bit, you just need to locktite everything on your car.

Your loctite comment really sparked a reply in me. I had a sound in my car about a week ago and I would describe it as a nut/bolt/??? rattled loose, fell onto a ledge and bounced around, metal on metal. The noise was very obvious at low rpms, 1st and 2nd gear. There was no noise at speed. The noise was gone by the time I got home, so I assume the errant piece had fallen to the ground somewhere.

So that's my theory on the noise...

Anyone with any input would be appreciated. If something came loose in my car, what are the most likely spots I should check?

Do you have motor mounts or torque dampers? Or are you just saying a random bolt on your stock car came loose, because I really doubt that. Honestly, 10/10 times, it's not a bolt, it's a rock. And now the rock is gone. Problem is gone. Lucky you. For the last two and half years, I've had a rock pop up in my rear bumper (steel bumper) of my GTI and it has a giant lip so you can't get your hands in there, and that thing rolls around anytime I accelerate or decelerate. So be glad that yours went away. And it's not a bolt anyways.

With a torque damper, no it's not that bad, and it does reduce engine movement by quite a lot, so it is worth it. Like I said, you'll only notice it when it's idling or at a light or something. Motor mounts have quite a bit more vibration and really transfers it to the cabin. You'll notice some dash vibration and buzzing from all the plastic. But it's bareable.

If FastScions.com doesn't sell them, then they probably haven't made them yet.

Yeah, I do have a motor mount. I do hope that the sound was nothing, a rock maybe like you said. It just sucks NOT knowing, so I was seeing if there were any usual suspect bolts that people know of.

Nope. There certainly shouldn't be any bolts flying around up front. No usual suspects except for the blasted rock.
