twm shifter problem
Hi everybody I just put my twm shortshifter with cable bushing on my scion tc 2011 but now it very harsh to get in second gear but the others including reverse is ok can anybody tell me what can maybe the problem or if anybody had an issue like this or if the 2 cable bushing a different because they seems to me the same . thanks a lot have a nice day
That sucks. My first question is what you mean by "harsh". Does it not want to go in or does it go in and just sound bad?
First thing I would do is pull off the shift boot and shift through all the gears with the car off. Check and see if anything is binding around the shifter itself. If you happened to have put the spring in wrong or didn't use enough grease, it could make shifting difficult.
Second, check the new cable bushings. They are both the same, so that won't make a difference, but again, if something is binding, it could cause a problem.
One last note. The new shifter and bushings do require you to be a bit more precise with your shifts. It cleans up the feel certainly, but if you think of it as putting the shifter through an opening to get into gear, the "opening" is smaller with the upgraded bushings and shifter.
Good luck and keep us posted.

sometimes it didnt want to get into gear and wen it does..... ouch lol but since I got this this car it seems that the second gear has a problem when its cold you can feel the synchro work and make a crunch I got the dealer to ask if everything is ok and they said that the transmission have to use a litle bit .But now the car have 2000km and it still feel the same before I put de twm ..... but after the second gear feel like if everything will goes out of the transmission .What bother me its because before twm the shifter goes in any gear whitout any problem and the movement was fluid but now its more crisp that is normal but in second you can feel actually if something is not properly align .Thanks a lot I know that this can be confusing a little bit but I was thinking tomorrow and my can has a problem before and with the shortshifter I thing it just prove it by doing it but now I will probably return to stock until the tranny goes out and hope they will warranty it ... but now I touch the shifter and if they see it I dont know what it will happened .... thanks again everybody and have a nice day I keep you in touch .
Couple people on here have had transmission issues. Can't remember who, but someone had their tranny replaced with less than 10k miles. I'd say it's worth going back to stock and making the dealer fix the problem. Especially if you had issues even before installing the short shifter.
Good luck!
Good luck!
mine had the same problem what i did to solve this was remove the shift **** n check the U ring make sure its in place when your ready to put the shift **** back on lift the reverse lift up n tighten the shift ****. that should solve the problem most likely.
