If the clutch is slipping you'd normally notice the RPMs behaving erratically with respect to wheel speed, e.g. you floor it and notice engine RPMs rising a lot faster than car speed. Is this happening?

Check to see if the esc lights are flickering on. Mine will come on under hard acceleration sometimes, especially if I am turning while hard on the acccelrator in 2nd or 3rd gear.

I notice this in 3rd gear only.... When using Manual mode on my AT.

The conclusion I made to myself is that 3rd is to be used for accelerating (ie overtaking) or engine breaking to slow down the car. Otherwise it's gear 4 for cruising down the side streets.

It's almost as if the car wants to do engine braking and accelerating at the same time. But then computes and realizes that you want to accelerate and it does that. This causes the car to shake and feel like it's stuttering or hesitating to go. It all happens in about half a second and it usually happens when I am going about 25-30mph (40-50km/h) and only in 3rd gear. I haven't noticed this in 2nd gear

I get worried myself that it might cause issues down the road but the dealer said it's normal. I even had a service guy take it out for a drive just to show him.

This is what happens to me if I don't give enough throttle before releasing the clutch into the next gear. Don't know how diff it is for A/T.
I keep reading about people having to drive to the car for the dealership to acknowledge a problem. Sad. Good luck with it..

I will have to check this out on my way to class today. Thanks for a heads up on what to look for.

I know what you mean about traction control but it seems like it lags while even moderately accelerating. I should turn traction control off altogether and see if that makes any difference

it could be that the valve body could have an obstruction in it, or also that the shift solenoid is not getting the signal wich can cause a delay in shifting if you are using the tiptronic on AT trans.
