Default Dezod Kit on Auto Trans. One year later...

Alright here's the deal...

I had an AEM cold air intake, Eibach springs, sway bars, etc., 3" dual port exhaust with baffles, and some body stuff. Loved my tC2.

Came up on some change to use on the Dezod turbo. Did it.

Install went fine, dyno was a liiiittle lower than id expected, but it was a Mustang load bearing dyno, so i guess those show the low end. Was tuned at 8-9lbs of boost (per discussions with Dezod) that creeped to 13, which would need to be adjusted on the exhaust side to keep it lower. That has since been done.

Showed it off a few times, but nothing crazy. No racing.

We had installed the transmission cooler as suggested and the trans lasted one week.

Enter Level 10 Transmissions. They had said they had done several of these and that my setup would work like a charm. "The last one we did was putting out 600 hp, so yours will be no issue". Sent in the specs, dyno sheets, parts lists etc. and ordered it a few days later.

They sent a tC1 transmission. :?

Sent mine and the tC1 unit back. Got my unit back with their "bulletproof" setup. Installed it, test drives seemed fine per the shop. I made it 6 miles and it failed. Fortunately Level 10 warrantied out the unit and a few months later we had it in again. Shop calls them to verify the install with them and make sure we had done everything they wanted done. They were told by Level 10 that without an aftermarket AEM ECM there wasn't a way this transmission would work. Told them that wasn't what I had been told by anyone or them prior to ordering it. Level 10 said they'd look into it some more.

A few months later (again) said that all we needed to do was put it through the learning process and we would be good.

Said, ok, fine... was reassured on three separate occasions that we were good to go. Nope. Lasted a week and a half before showing signs of issues and last night trying to take it into Toyota the trans basically blew up.

I'm at my wits end. It has been a year and a half of hell with this thing and not getting any answers from anyone and if i get one, its that it should work.

Level 10... sorry to tell you this, but if you research this shop on numerous other platforms, almost no one has anything good to say about them. I remember someone getting one of these "bulletproof" upgrades and after it failed the second time, the owner had an independent shop check the work they did. Level 10 had literally just added some washers... my advice would be to go elsewhere to a place that has proven quality work, although I'm sure you'll have to pay quite a bit more. Sorry no one warned you about them before...

Wow thats nuts! Its crazy how you can spend all this money on a custom auto trans and all they do is add a few washers. How is that even legal? Because that transmission wasn't cheap at all. With build quality like that I'm surprised they are even still in business. I'm glad I saw this thread because i was thinking about boosting with my auto trans. Looks like I'll just do a manual swap instead.
