Default Questions about adding a Turbo to a tC2

So I was thinking about maybe adding in the future a Turbo for my 2012 tC2. I saw the Descendant one and at 8 psi i was probably looking at 333hp to the wheels, to be honest 300hp is more than enough for me. My question was. How much should I expect from the engine if I have that turbo installed running at 8 psi. People keep telling my that I will blow my engine and stuff like that. I really doubt that it will kill it that much but I wanted to know like an expected time.

Also, what other things are recommended when having a Turbo? I heard that the clutch, better axles, better fuel pump. What do you guys recommend?

Have you tried reading the threads on here and elsewhere for general knowledge about what's involved in adding a turbo to a car? You can browse the 1G and xB2 section as well since the fundamentals are the same.

Go look at ZeroEyeQueue's thread he has already turbo'd his and blown an engine Descendant and him said that at about 350 hp you will get missfire and he blew his engine at about 400 hp i think he was at 13 or 15 boost

^What devan said. I boosted back in May of 2011. Both GReddy and World Racing (Descendant) told me the stock internals will only be able to handle about 350 to the wheels before you start getting detonation issues. In January, the boost spiked hard and it destroyed a couple ring lands.

Depending on the tune and the dyno, you'll see over 300whp. Just make sure you take it to someone that knows the FIC software in and out.

If you stick with their standard kit, I don't think you'll have any problems. Mine blew up because I went with a bigger turbo and kept a 38mm wastegate instead of going bigger.

Also, get a new clutch. OS Giken and ACT make them for the tC2.

And, some meters (Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge) and a wideband O2 sensor. Will definitely need those for tuning.

If you mean the NST Spec clutches, I haven't read anything about development on a tC2 product. I'm sure someone in "the know" can chime in and tell you otherwise.

I've read about a couple guys that run a Spec 3+ clutch kit (one with a Nissan 240 and a couple others with some beefed up Cobalts). The guy with the Nissan is satisfied with it, writing that it had decent engagement and low to mid chatter.

The Cobalt drivers were not satisfied, writing "You get what you paid for". Most complaints were about the loud chatter, convoluted installation, and slow engagement. The Cobalt drivers eventually switched to an Exedy Clutch and Flywheel combo.

I'm guessing it just depends upon the application.

Nothing wrong with a stock block. Run low boost (< 9 Psi) and you shouldn't have any issues as long as the tune is right.

To the OP if you have any questions regarding turbo kits, and reliability? Please feel free to give me a call at the shop or PM for more info.

Here is our production car running 11psi on our PTUNING Spec SS kit.

Thanks Drew.
